Vacuum roller stops at half tilt.

Recently our vacuum roller just stopped spinning when the handle is only raised half way. So in order to clean the rug, you have to be slumped over with the handle far down. Once you lift the handle more than half way up the roller stops spinning.

Can not release handle from upright position. Step button appears to be immovable. Machine will not start.

You need a new belt. Belts will stretch to the point that they won't turn the brush roll under load, they will just slip. Check the brush when you change the belt to make sure the ends turn easily, if not, then replace it also.

I took the roller brush off to clean it,replaced it now it will only spin in the recline position.l put it in the vacuum position and it stops. I have a DC 14 animal.

I'm not sure what you mean by recline and vacuum positions. Normally when the handle is in the upright position to use the tools and hose the brush roll does not turn. When you recline the handle into the floor vacuuming position the brush spins. If you were able to remove the brushroll an reinstall it the brush roll belt is likely very stretched out because otherwise it is very difficult to put the bush roll back in with out using the belt change tool. This can cause the brushroll to spin but stop spinning when when it hits the carpet because he belt is too loose. Belts must be very tight to spin the brush roll in he carpet. There is also another belt that you can't see under the clutch cover. It becomes stretched out also. The belts need to be replace every few years as do any stretch belts. The hard part about changing belts on your model is they are inside the clutch, it's easier to replace the whole clutch. If you have any questions or need any of the parts or belt change tool please email me at [email protected].

Why the Dyson dc 41 roller brush will not turn?

Try these steps:
  • Check the button that turns off the roller brush to make sure you didn't press it by accident.
  • Unplug the vacuum and clear pet hair and other debris off the roller brush. It may stop as a safety feature if the roller brush is too restricted.
  • Make sure the belt to the roller brush is placed correctly and not broken.
  • Press the roller brush reset button. It may be located on the side of the vacuum's head, or inside the handle. The switch may need to be replaced if it's defective.
  • The roller brush is disabled while the handle is in the upright position, so tilt the handle backwards while testing the roller brush.
I hope that helps you!

Roller stops when the handle is lowered

Hi, it's Cindy from Crucial Vacuum.

Over usage, the bristles on rollers wear. The reason why the roller stops properly working when the handle is lowered is because as the handle is lowered the vacuum is raised from the floor. It may be time to change your roller. A quick search of part # 303202004 will bring several options for purchase.

While your changing your roller, you can also change your two filters and carbon filter. For optimal performance, it is recommended to change your filter every 3-6 months.

You can purchase direct your replacement belts from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com viewers, use code: FIXYA10

Vacuum wont spin when on carpet but will spin if tilted off the carpet

Remove the bottom plate of the sweeper. Remove the sweeper brush roller and clean the end bearings of debris. Oil the bearings lightly with 3-1 oil or similar machine oil. Clean the motor shaft with alcohol as well as the brush drive area, and the inside of the drive belt. Test on a carpet for improvement--if still stopping, replace the rubber drive belt. Hope this helps!

Roller turns but makes noise

When you set the roller back in place, you probably didn't get it set in the slots properly. May be raised up slightly on one side.

Losing power to stick/floor vacuum

if you have an extension wand, the replacement will cost about $100.00. there is a way to repair both the pwr-cord on the brush assemble and the wand, but it depends on how much damage there is. also you need to check the contacts where the wand connects with the handle, and the prongs on the handle.

Beater bar does not work dyson DC07

If the beater bar does not spin freely, and the belt still seems to be in place, then you may not need a new clutch, but you may need to reset the clutch.  This is done very simply by keeping the beater bar section of the vacuum flat on the floor and reclining the handle all the way to the floor so the entire vacuum lays flat. There is a mechanism in the vacuum which resets the clutch. You will probably not hear anything when the clutch resets.  I sat on the phone for an hour and a half to hear this simple technique is built into the vacuum, but excluded from all instructions and website customer service information.
