Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers

An internal 'hose' blows when dishwasher is used.

WIRLPOOL DISHWASHER 6ADP5540WH
The plastic 'hose' that feeds both the lower and upper rortating arms of the dishwasher pops out of place when we use the dishwasher [like it should have a rubber seal or something]. It clicks back into place easilly, but certainly affects the washing quality. It is one part with two round 'pipes' that plugs into the base. Solid plastic. Should this have some rubber washers to keep it in place or the like or is something broken?

The model is essentially built in [can be stand alone], and the tubes concerned are inside of the dishwasher. Maybe this model isn't sold in the USA [I'm in Australia].

Have re-checked and the model number is 100% correct

Why doesn't my Bosch SHU43 c06uc dishwasher have any cleaning force?

With your dishwasher empty, roll out the bottom rack. The feed line for the upper spray arm runs from a pump outlet directly behind the lower spray arm spindle. This tube runs up the back wall of the dishwasher and mates with the upper rack when it is pushed in.

This feed tube simply snaps into place in the bottom of the machine. It is a high pressure line that makes an immediade 90-degree bend towards the rear of the unit. They have a tendency to pop out. When and if it does pop out you get almost no water coming out of the upper arm and you lose effective pressure in the lower arm, too. The cure is to push that feed tube back down firmly into the port until you hear it snap into place. While you have the lowere rack out it is a good idea to clean the intake screen out and check for any debris in the intake well.

Glasses are milky... inside door panel has begun to have "dry" streaks. All other dishes are clean, including silver . I make sure that the supply of Jet Dry is full.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Water flow problems are what cause streaks, silt or cloudy dishes. The water flow problems can be caused by several things:
1. Clogged spray arm holes (Clean wash arms upper and lower)

2. Sump inlets that are blocked with debris or plastic (Clean inlets)

Most probable cause.... follows:
3. POOR DRAIN FUNCTION ( a. Inspect all parts of the drain going backward from the sink connection
1) The sink connection is usually at the side of garbage disposal. Remove the hose from the actual sink connection and clean out the port.
2) The AIR-GAP is the where 75% of the drain restrictions manifest. Lift off the Air-Gap cover then unscrew the inner cap nut NOTING the installed position of the inner cap because you can only install it ONE WAY. Lift off the cap and remove an debris inside. Use a flashlight and inspect for any debris deep inside the Air Gap,
3) Inspect the Drain hose from the Air Gap to the Dishwasher drain hose connection for any kinks or folds. If you note wither a kink or a fold take a stick over the outside of the hose like you were putting on a splint.
4) Remove the drain hose from the dishwasher connection and inspect for debris. Clean as necessary. Just note there is power under the dishwasher that can reach out and grab you so make sure the power is off before working under the dishwasher.

5) Re-assemble the dishwasher drain system

4. If after doing all of the above you sill have the streaks you will have to remove the lower wash arm and support to inspect / clean out any debris. DO NOT remove the motor and pump mounting screws. Only the lower wash arm support. Also as soon as you loosen the lower wash arm, note how it goes back together.... these can be a real difficult puzzle!

I note you are using Jet Dry. (Good)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Lower spray arm no water

Clog or hose has blockage. You will have to trace down if the water is feeding into the dishwasher but my guess is that you have a problem with the feed hose. Get a manual and find where the water feeds into it.

How to replace the top rollers on a GE dishwasher model # gsm1800nww

Lower Rack

  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Pull the lower rack out of the dishwasher so that it rests on the dishwasher door.
  • Lift the lower rack up and out of the dishwasher.
  • Place the new lower dishwasher rack on the dishwasher door, then push it into the dishwasher.
  • Upper Rack
  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Extend the upper rack as far as it will go.

Remove the two plastic end caps, located on the end of each dishwasher arm. To remove, insert a flat-head screwdriver between the arm and the tab on the outside of the end cap, then lift the tap to remove the end cap.
Pull the upper dishwasher rack straight of out the arms to remove.

Insert the rollers on the bottom of the new upper dishwasher rack into the rack arms, then push the rack completely into the dishwasher.
. Align the end caps with the ends of the arms, then push the end caps into place.

Upper Rack

  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Extend the upper rack as far as it will go.
  • Remove the two plastic end caps, located on the end of each dishwasher arm. To remove, insert a flat-head screwdriver between the arm and the tab on the outside of the end cap, then lift the tap to remove the end cap.
  • Pull the upper dishwasher rack straight of out the arms to remove.
  • Insert the rollers on the bottom of the new upper dishwasher rack into the rack arms, then push the rack completely into the dishwasher.

I don't think the upper arm is rotating and I was wonder what the problem could be. Thank you, Les

The upper arm is driven by water pressure so if its not rotating it's generally because
a) the arm isn't locating properly in the upper rack
b) the arm is fouling something in the lower rack
c) blocked feed pipe to the upper arm

Middle wash arm doesn't turn on quiet power 1 ge dishwasher

The last two holes (the ones wich give the spin to the arm) are blocked. Remove the arm and try to unblock with a thootpick and by running water into the arm.

Good luck

Bosch dishwasher - top row of dishes do not get clean

There is a screen that you can remove from the sump of the dishwasher to clean. Just twist it to the left and pull it out. I have some tips that you might want to check out if this does not resolve your problem.

Upper spray arm is not turning round even though water is coming through. We have checked the internal system for blockages and the machine is filling / draining as normal. When a full programme is run,...

I found the problem to be neither blockages of the upper arm or roof spray arm or the upper basket arm hitting the the back of the dishwasher. the problem was that the pump inlet where the food scraps are macerated was blocked with all manner of gunge including small chicken bones plastic and other detritus. Removal of the macerator housing under the upper filter housing using 2 different sizes of torx driver easily fixed the problem. Probably why the upper dish rack cleaning degraded overtime, Directly proportional to the amount of detritus blocking the intake screen behind the macerator.17a8801.jpgb9e8fa8.jpg789f2b8.jpgfb7a626.jpgator. Upper rack dishes not coming clean.

You could try running it with the upper arm removed, just so you could be sure that the pressure is not getting to that point - unless you are absolutely sure the upper arm holes/channels are all clear then descale it overnight with some vinegar - just might clear something. if there is obviously only a little flow of water then perhaps you could try getting vinegar into the supply pipe using a basting bulb/syringe or similar - again leave overnight and you may get lucky. The next thing would be to take the machine apart so you could follow this hose through to the pump - undo it from the pump and blow through it or see if you can get a piece of wire in it from the pump end. try vinegar again. check the pump outlet for blockage. Hope this helps :)
