If you left the camera turned on all night, most likely you've drained the batteries. The camera does not include any charging circuitry, and does not charge the batteries via the USB connection. In fact, connecting the camera actually drains the batteries faster, since the camera has to communicate with the computer (even if it's only to say that it has nothing to say).

Why won't mu usb cord work for downloading pictures

Here is one possible solution. Some devices require that you use the USB cable that came with the device. Other USB cords won't work. This happened on a Nexus tablet I bought recently. When I tried to charge it with another USB cord, nothing happened. I had to use the exact USB cord that came with the tablet, even though both cords looked identical.

Hello, I just got my kodak easyshare C183 camera, however when I went to download the software to my computer I forgot to turn the camera off and then on when installing. Everything installed great on...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

It still amazes me how many people buy these cameras that are seemingly "waterproof" and eventually have the very same problems you are now having. The only true underwater camera is one in an underwater housing.

I have a canon A590 is camera. When I try to upload pictures onto the computer and plug the camera into the computer nothing happens. The camera does not power on like its suppose to. Why is this? I know...

Your USB cable is fine, I use a generic cable with my A590 with no problems. Connect the USB cable to the camera then your computer, make sure that the camera is set to the view setting instead of picture taking setting and then turn your camera an. Your computer should then see the camera. This is the only combination that works with my camera.

Bob

Card locked

Are you able to format the card in the camera. Also the USB cable you probably need is the same as most other mini USB devices.

USB device not recognized

There are different causes for this problem. Shutdown your computer then turn it back on. If that does not fix it there may be a USB device driver on the computer that conflicts with the device sort of a Ghost device. Go to the link below for some tips on fixing this problem.

Getting Pictures Off Camera

Have you looked in my computer for the camera??  Try running the camera and scanner wizard in accessories from the start menu.  If this does not work, go to control panel>printers and other hardware and click on scanners and cameras.  If your model is not there then click an an imaging device (top left under imaging tasks) and follow the steps putting in your model ect.
If all of this fails then there are other possibilities
  • Faulty cable
  • Faulty USB port
  • Problem with your camera
  • Problem with your software from camera
Hope this helps

Very good in checking if your computers' USB ports are working. Now that you know that your computer's USB ports are working, try your USB device on his computer and check if it'll work there. If it also doesn't work there, then it'll be your USB device that's not being read.

DSC-T7 Locked up "USB Mode Normal"

I am a user with the exact same problem as you desribed for my DSC-T7. My problem started when I splashed two drops of water need the battery door and then the camera would not power up. I removed battery and card for a day and camera worked fine for another day. The following day, I left my camera in my sun visor of my car for the day (>90 deg F outside) which I forgot that I put it there. The next day my camera did power up in the locked mode exactly as yours. I do not know if it was the water drops or the heat but it is doing exactly as you desribe. However, here is something that I have discovered while trying to get the camera to work: 1. I plugged the adapter into the side of the camera since I am concerned that the USB port is the issue. 2. I plugged the USB cable into my portable printer and powerer the printer up and then turned on the camera in all three modes to see if anything changed and it did not. 3. I have found if you turn off the printer with the USB cable still in the printer and the adapter, the camera then enters a mode that shows thw word "ACCESS" and then the camera works perfectly. All modes of the camera work fine. But as soon as you power up the printer or remove any of the cables or remove the adapter the camera reenters the locked mode. This is not a solution but an indicator that the USB port is possibly causing the problem but not sure why the printer being off causes the camera to work fine. In addition, have all of the cables hooked up and to the printer does not allow the camera to be used with any mobility but wanted to let you know what I have discovered and hopefully maybe this may lead to a potential solution.
