Mine is in the top -top back, you may only have the Paddle/lever which needs to be placed (down) for operation.

Why is water not going to ice maker

Check the hose to the ice maker and make sure its not plugged and then check the switch from the ice maker to make sure power is activating the solenoid that turns on the water. If solenoid is good then your ice marker is bad

Ice Maker Not Producing Ice - No Power To Water Control Solenoid

Yes, most likely a defective ice maker, since we know the valve is passing water, once energized.

GE refrigerator is not making ice

There are several types of ice makers with the same model number. Some of my questions may seem over - the - top, but I do not know your level of ability. Do not take offense.

Did this ice maker ever work before, or is it a newly installed maker or a factory installed maker in a new fridge? Have you moved the power switch to on? If yours has an LED power indicator, is it off, blinking or on? Off means there's no power to the maker - you'll need to get the maker powered up before going further (make sure the electrical power connector is mated fully). Blinking means cubes have become stuck in the maker. You'll have to shut the maker off, remove the cubes then power up again. On means it is powered and is working normally. Is the freezer compartment set to maintain a temperature lower than 15 degrees F (-9 C)? The ice maker will not make ice unless the temperature is below 15 F (-9 C). The space under the maker must remain clear of obstructions so that the sweeper arm is not blocked (when blocked indicates a full ice container and will halt ice production until the arm can move freely again). The maker may need as many as 3 cycles (approx 6 hours) before all the air in the ice maker's water lines have been purged completely.

Listen for the solenoid valve to operate. Every couple of hours, this valve should operate and an audible click on and click off heard after a several seconds (as long as set on the ice maker cube size adjustment knob). When this solenoid has clicked on, water should be flowing through the lines and filling the ice maker. If not, there is an obstruction that must be cleared. A dirty or improperly installed filter, pinched line, and even ice can interrupt flow to the ice maker. You might need to remove the ice maker from the freezer to check the water supply line that feeds it for the presence of ice. Melt / clear as needed.

Ice maker not working. Have replaced the Ice Maker and still not working. Is there a fuse for the ice maker controller or reset button? I have the Whirlpool Conquest Gold Series between 8 and 10 years...

Roger... this is going to sound way to simple. The ice maker power is cut off by the door switch. Check the door switch. 1/2 of the switch powers the light and the other half powers the ice maker when the light is off. That stupid little door switch has tripped me up several times and I work on them!!! There is one locking tab on ONE side of the (usually white door switch to pop it out of the chassis. It will have 3 terminals on it. One is a common wire, one powers the light (door open / plunger extended) and the other one powers the ice maker (door closed / plunger depressed)

Don't buy a controller yet!!!!

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My ice maker does not work. How do I remove it to check it?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

There are at least 3 different ice makers in use. They are not all the same. What is your make and model number so we can cite applicable reference material to help you?

This is just a guess.... at matching a manual to your unit, but download this manual and follow the troubleshooting procedures:$FILE/4322658A.pdf

Note.. Trouble shooting is best performed while the ice maker is "Installed"
If the ice maker checks out ok then most likely the freezer may not be getting cool enough from either a automatic defrosting problem or... an evaporator fan motor that is not running at full speed.

Additionally... if the freezer door switch has failed the ice maker will not work at all even if you are following the steps in the manual link above. The door switch controls power to the ice maker and shuts off ice maker power when the freezer door is open. Most of the time you never realize the door switch has failed unless you manually test it with the door open. (i.e light on / off and ice maker power on / off as tested with a meter)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

I have a side-by-side (MDL: 106.53552202). My ice maker has stopped working... I do get water from the door. The ice container is empty, the switch is turned ON.

there could be a blockage of frozen water in the fill tube of the ice maker.
if there is no blockage then the nex thig to check is the main water valve that supplies the water to the ice maker.
you can check the power from the main pcb board to the ice maker and make sure you have current to the ice maker
if all else fails replace the ice maker
i hope this has helped in some way good luck

Ice maker is not making ice

The arm should be down. The down position applies power to the control module... when the arm is up power is off. It's the opposite of a light switch.

No water flow to ice maker

Two possible answers on this one. The water control valve for the ice maker is defective or the switches inside the front of ice maker are stuck.
Please send the model number listed for your refrigerator so I can help you find the ice maker switches and parts break down for your refrigerator. Below is my website address.

Let me know if I can help you more, Thanks Sea Breeze
