I was not disputing your level of knowledge. I have asked you several times now how the post you submitted this mornig became the #1 post more than half a day after I had already began working w/ the Asker. THAT is what I am displeased about.
Do you know why or how that occurred?
There have been many discussions in the Expert's Lounge regarding "place holding" by some unscrupulous "experts". That is what I have assumed took place w/ respect to your post. Otherwise, I don't understand how your post could've ended in the #1 spot. The only way that I know you can accomplish that after so much time has elapsed is if you were the 1st to open the problem and waited for more than half a day b4 submitting your post.
I'm a very patient and tolerant person and I have FAR BETTER things to do than engage in petty arguments w/ people. But this case was particularly egregious in my mind. That is why I responded to it.
However, if there's an issue w/ FixYa getting the order of the posts wrong, then we really need to address that issue w/ them.
Secondly, if you read the post carefully, you'd see that he was not asking for standard color coding and terminating instructions. I thought that at 1st, too, and had *already* provided him w/ the *same* information that you submitted in your post.
He is a DIY'er who is, for the 1st time, embarking on wiring his new home w/ data drops. He has the WRONG wall jacks. He should be using the industry standard keystone-type jacks w/ color-coding he can, even as a novice, understand.
I've been in the IT business for nearly 30 years. I have a wide range of *hands on* knowledge and experience and, as a result, expertise. If I don't know what I'm talking about, I don't participate in the Askers problem. If I see that other experts are taking good care of an Asker w/ their solutions and recommendations, as a professional courtesy, I don't participate in the problem.
Heaven knows there are plenty more Askers who have not been helped. So, I stay out of the ones that are already being adequately helped so that I don't dilute those experts' chances of receiving credit for the solutions(s) they provided.
This is all I ask. That we respect one another's efforts toward providing Askers w/ our assistance and expertise. That we work as a team.
