Thank you for the introduction. I do appreciate that.

I was not disputing your level of knowledge. I have asked you several times now how the post you submitted this mornig became the #1 post more than half a day after I had already began working w/ the Asker. THAT is what I am displeased about.

Do you know why or how that occurred?

There have been many discussions in the Expert's Lounge regarding "place holding" by some unscrupulous "experts". That is what I have assumed took place w/ respect to your post. Otherwise, I don't understand how your post could've ended in the #1 spot. The only way that I know you can accomplish that after so much time has elapsed is if you were the 1st to open the problem and waited for more than half a day b4 submitting your post.

I'm a very patient and tolerant person and I have FAR BETTER things to do than engage in petty arguments w/ people. But this case was particularly egregious in my mind. That is why I responded to it.

However, if there's an issue w/ FixYa getting the order of the posts wrong, then we really need to address that issue w/ them.

Secondly, if you read the post carefully, you'd see that he was not asking for standard color coding and terminating instructions. I thought that at 1st, too, and had *already* provided him w/ the *same* information that you submitted in your post.

He is a DIY'er who is, for the 1st time, embarking on wiring his new home w/ data drops. He has the WRONG wall jacks. He should be using the industry standard keystone-type jacks w/ color-coding he can, even as a novice, understand.

I've been in the IT business for nearly 30 years. I have a wide range of *hands on* knowledge and experience and, as a result, expertise. If I don't know what I'm talking about, I don't participate in the Askers problem. If I see that other experts are taking good care of an Asker w/ their solutions and recommendations, as a professional courtesy, I don't participate in the problem.

Heaven knows there are plenty more Askers who have not been helped. So, I stay out of the ones that are already being adequately helped so that I don't dilute those experts' chances of receiving credit for the solutions(s) they provided.

This is all I ask. That we respect one another's efforts toward providing Askers w/ our assistance and expertise. That we work as a team.

Thank you,
BJ

The lens are out, and the camera won't turn on

Hi,
Having taken apart a number of digital cameras I know they are fiendishly complicated inside. I can only suggest that you double check that the batteries are installed the correct way round and that you try again with new ones straight out of the packet.

Hi, Unfortunately this sounds like the drum bearings have failed. Does the drum move around when you try to lift it up and down? Were there greasy spots on your white clothes lately? Any metallic debris in the removable filter? These all point to drum bearing failure.

REPLACE FUEL FILTER

OK, try looking under the rear of the vehicle, on the right hand side in front of the fuel tank...it may be hidden by a protective undershield.

Humidifier sopped working.

Hi,
I take it that the bucket is empty? I'd suggest making sure that the bucket is properly inserted back into the casing, and that none of the little actuating rods has got broken.

Hi. Haynes says "either unscrew the collar and disconnect the drive cable or disconnect the wiring plug from ther speedometer sender" - I guess depending whether you have a mechanical or electrical speedo system.

VW Golf 51 Plate Oil Pressure Indicator Light

Hi.
The "oil light" measures the oil pressure in the engine, not the oil level in the sump. I would not drive it an inch until I had it checked by a competent mechanic. New engines are expensive!

Ge washer

Hi.
I would check the rubber seal around the door - down at the bottom, to see if it has perished or got torn.

Does it leak only when running or all the time - that is, when powered off and idle?

Hi,
Could you check that the bucket is properly installed? It won't work if the microswitch isn't pushed in by the rod or lever which touches the bucket.

Exhaust system light on

Hi
The only sensible way forward is to get a list of fault codes from the onboard diagnostic system and take it from there. You
could either go to a VW dealer, or if you are technically minded you could buy a £15 interface cable, download some free "VAG diagnostic software" and run it on a portable computer.
Once you have then, post a new problem here with the codes you got and I'll try to help.
