Question about Samsung LN37A550P LCD TV

1 Answer

Black screen after 30+ minutes of viewing after HD satellite upgr

My 18 mo old LN37A550P LCD TV was fine until I upgraded to HD satellite last Friday. At that point the center white light on the front quit extinguishing when the TV was turned off, and my picture when the TV is on only stays for 30-40 minutes before going black and all I get is the audio. I've tried moving the HDMI cable to all three ports, but nothing makes a difference. The satellite company says it must be the TV, but this wasn't happening before the upgrade. Previously, this TV was the 2nd on a dual mode DVR, and now it's hooked directly to the DVR (1st on a dual mode).

Hi,
Plug any other video source like dvd player in tv HDMI and check its performance, if tv stays On and does not show any problem after 40 minutes that means tv is just fine and HD satellite seems cause of problem.
Same test for HD Sateelite, hook it with any other tv that has HDMI input just to confirm it.
Above said process will narrow down problem and will confirm what unit is cause of problem so it can be fixed. Right now there is confusion as two units are involved.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

Hdmi not supported

I have a Vizio E320VL - just hooked up the HDMI for the first time (4 years later) to work with my new comcast HD DTA. I'm getting "retrieving data" (with really weird audio sounds in the background) - then "not support." If I wait a few minutes, I can change the channel and get clips of video/audio with some intermittent gray snow and black screen - The longer I leave the TV on, the better this gets until its almost running fine 30 mins later.

Samsung 650 lcd 40" tv picture blacks out for a few seconds.

Dude, better check your cable and also your TV's power management settings. This might also happen due a issue with the HDMI output of the satellite box.

My GPS cannot detect the satellite signal.

Garmin says:

If your GPSMAP 60CSx will not acquire a satellite signal when outside with a clear view of the sky, please try the following:
  1. Click here http://garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to install and update your unit
  3. Once updated allow for the device to set free from obstructions for 20 minutes to acquire satellites
If this does not work then we suggest doing a master reset with your device - Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your device to the default factory settings. To perform the master reset please do the following:

  1. Turn the device OFF
  2. Press and hold Quit + Menu + Out + Power
  3. The device screen will then flash and will power on
  4. Leave the device turned ON with a clear view of the sky without moving it for approximately 30 minutes so that it may acquire satellites

If still unable to acquire satellites, contact Garmin Customer Support via one of the methods below:

When turn on always says poor satellite reception,

Hi Carlos,

You are receiving that message because the GPS is unable to acquire satellites. Satellite reception can be limited due to one or more of the follow reasons: Poor view of the sky, GPS antenna not deployed, used indoors or other internal problems.

Try taking the device outside in full view of the sky - preferably with little or no tree cover, tall buildings, etc. and allow up to 2 minutes to acquire satellites.

If unable to acquire, it may require return to Garmin for repair. Contact Garmin based on your location and product below:
