If this is a new system and it won't boot up, you need to return it to the store you purchased it from. That's what warranties are for. Make use of it. The sooner the better.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Medion MIM2080 MD95408 Original 40gb hard drive has died. Purchased 80gb replacement. Have cloned WIN_XP_PRO from another device onto new hard drive. When laptop boots all you get is a black screen...

did you get all the files? most likely there is a corrupt or missing set of files in the cloned files
i suggest you either get a new hard copy (disks) and install from there or use linux (most linux OS's are free online)

How do i restore a medion laptop back to factory settings as we have the discs but we have a detachable cd/dvd disc drive. so really struggling to reset things

I will have to assume "detachable" means USB. You will need to enter the motherboard's BIOS setup program --- this is typically accomplished by pushing a key or keys as soon as possible after pushing the power button. Key DEL, F2 or F10 are most likely, but usually the system *tells* you ... look for something like "Press F2 to run setup".

Once you enter the BIOS setup program, look for "Advanced BIOS Features", which is usually the 2nd option in the left column (navigate using your arrow keys and press ENTER/RETURN to select). Using the arrow keys, move to "1st boot device" and select "USB" or "Removable Device". If you don't see either under "1st Boot Option", then *disable* all boot devices (1st boot device, 2nd boot device, etc.) but *enable* "Boot Other Device". This should force your motherboard to boot from the USB CDROM.

If your CDROM is *not* USB, then I'm afraid I've paddled up the wrong creek :-(

Hope this helps!

Just got a blank screen when turning on with a line flashing on the left

That means your system is trying to boot from some othter source. Make sure there no CD in CD/DVD Drive. If its there remove it and remove the usb flash drive and other usb devices and restart your pc. it will boot normally. If its not booting again, go to bios by pressing f12 or f10 or f2 and select harddisk as 1st boot device and save it and exit. now you can restart your pc and it will work

Black and white lines after bios screen before boot up

The issue appears to be cosmetic if the system boots to WIndows and there are no display issues using the system. Some systems I've seen have a bit of video distortion between the BIOS splash screen and the desktop. A couple things may change that. Update the system BIOS and the video driver to the most current available

Crashed desk top been reformatted wontaccept medion system files

Seems like you will need to get your hands on a restore disk or windows installation cd for the version you have.

You will need to either restore the computer to the original state or install a fresh installation of windows from the setup cd, after that you need to get the drivers for the computer from medion support.

Do you sell a downlaodable file for system restore for a medion computer running XP home edition?

No . This is only an answer site to my knoledge.
PC Recovery and Piracy abstand_10423.gif abstand_10383.gif MEDION strongly supports efforts within the software industry to combat piracy, as it helps ensure that customers may confidently buy legal software.
When you acquired your new MEDION PC, MEDION provided you with an option that can be used if you need to recover the genuine Microsoft® operating system that has been preinstalled on your machine.

All of the recovery solutions will address the extremely rare instances of failure due to operating system file corruption or modification or hardware failure. In no way do these options limit your ability to add or remove new hardware and software to your PC, or limit your ability to make a backup copy of the operating system.

The recovery media options that MEDION provides for our variety of products are:

CD Media − which are often called "recovery CDs". This is a CD or DVD clearly marked with the PC Manufacturer's brand that can only be used on the PC you purchased. The media will be included as part of the materials you received at the time of purchase and will include all files necessary to restore the operating system on the PC.

Hard Drive-based Recovery System − Recovery files are placed on a separate partition of the hard drive that can be accessed if system recovery is needed. No CDs are needed and in most cases the PC can "heal" itself.

No Media − the PC does not include a recovery solution. In the event of a recovery situation, please contact the PC Manufacturer.

All MEDION computers that are preinstalled with a genuine Microsoft Windows operating system will have a Certificate of Authenticity attached to the PC chassis. For more details please click here.

If you have questions about the systems recovery option that is available with you machine, please contact: MEDION UK

Emachines T2385 startup problem

Psu is a Power Supply issue but the black screen with a blinking white line is not.
The blinking white line can mean there is no instructions to tell the Computer to boot up. Which could be possibly the system battery (cmos) or Hard Drive.
I would narrow those 3 things down first.
