Question about HP G60 Notebook

1 Answer

Grey screen but everything else works as normal Initially, on the windows startup (Bios) and the welcome screen, the colour is fine, everything is there. But after a few seconds logged in, everything turns completely grey. Every time I restart my laptop HP G60 Notebook PC, the colour is always there, but once I'm logged in for a few seconds, the screen turns and remains in a grey tint. I've had the laptop for a year and a few months. Please advise and help me.

That sounds like a problem with your GPU, this is very common with Nvidia graphics cards when built onto motherboards for mobile devices. First contact HP to see if you have any warranty with them, if not then you can either look for a company that specialises in board repair in your area or if you are brave try a DIY fix. Search 'motherboard DIY reflow' on google or youtube to see an example. Hope this helps,

When I turn on my computer the monitor remains dark unit after about 10 mins then I get the windows desk top. If I shut down the computer (normal shutdown)then restart I get the normal startup...

Try connect your monitor to some other box and try if it works the same way or as a normal pc boot. If it works well with other box, the issue is with the BIOS. Get the BIOS flashed with the latest version of flash program for the Bios chipset which your board is using. If the monitor shows the same symptom on a different box too.. you may need to get your monitor repaired. Good Luck

I have a Satellite Pro A120. The screen has gone red at startup and colours are all wrong now.

Try booting to BIOS. If you have the same problem, LCD is already defective. If the color in BIOS is normal, it means you only need to reinstall Windows. To go to BIOS: Turn off computer. Press and hold F2 then press power button. When it starts, you should see the Advanced Setup screen. The screen is color blue with yellow or white texts.

No access to DOS screen setup

Not exactly familiar with this particular monitor, but.. Once inside the computer BIOS (cmos screens), press either the external reset (autosync) button or from within the onscreen display. This should resize the screen (it does on any other model I've ever sold). Same solution for SAFE mode. Hannstar does not provide user support either by online or telephone. They rely on the distribution channel to provide support (namely, your reseller). The closest thing to direct HannStar support is here: http://www.hannstar.com/frontend_e/contact/MailProcessForm.jsp?type=10 ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
