Borrow discs from someone else or contact the maufacturer. Some systems have a computer restore built in.You can try continuously hitting the "F11" key when you first turn it on to see if it has the restore partition.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

If you have the software to your ( OS ) Operating System re-install and boot from the CD. There should be an operation for repair or reinstall for now choose repair. Allow the computer to boot and then reinstall all your software including downloading the latest drivers for your NEC be sure the drivers are compatible with the ( OS ).

Laptop: Sony Vaio Serial Tag: C3LRMD7Q Model: PCG7133L Need information for recovery disks for the foremention laptop. The OS is Windows VISTA Home Premiun.

Hi,

The VAIO Model VGN-NR498E/S is shipped with Recovery partition in the hard drive. It is required to create the recovery discs as soon as you get the notebook. Using either recovery discs or the recovery center you can reinstall the preinstalled OS in the computer. But, it depends if you has changed the preinstalled OS, the recovery partition will be erased and no longer be accessible.

However, in your case, if you not made any changes to the preinstalled OS, restart the computer and press and hold the F10 key. this will launch the recovery tools. On the next screen, press Enter key. Then you will be able to view options such as "Restore C Drive", "System Restore" etc. There select "Restore C Drive" to reinstall the preinstalled Vista OS in the Computer.

If you have changed the preinstalled OS in the computer, then it is requires to purchase the recovery discs from Sony's parts center:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/productSearch.do?searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=Y8318272A&sessionId=pfBoWO6gh7vj_fseXl4oiMI

The above part is no longer available with them However, you can use the part #Y8318272A to search for the recovery discs with online retailers and others.

Thanks!!!!

This is what I found on NEC support site. You'll need to scroll down to audio drivers and select the OS for you.

Notebook crash

On sony notebooks there is a hidden restore partition. You can restore it, but that means erasing all your data. F10 is the key .you want to keep hitting on startup and the once it gets into the recovery console, choose to restore C:\ Drive, that will take it back to factory settings. Just read and you will be fine. If F10 does not work, you may need to get the restore discs for your PC, in which you will need to call sony and order them. 1-888-476-6972 is their tech support number, just let them know you need restore discs and they will take care of you.

XP Home Edition crashes while in standby - blue screen error

Sounds like a bad file . I would consider reinstalling windows. When it starts up, for a new install, it will find your existing OS and ask it you want it repaired, say yes then it wil repair it and leave al you data as is.
