Depending on the age of your computer .... you will need to open the case (not terribly hard) and pull plug that powers the pc. Get a flashlite and look for a little disk/coin shaped battery that is usually located close to the edge of the motherboard/big circut board. pull out that coin shaped battery and check to make sure - it NOT dead! Somethimes this will prevent/lose the settings to the motherboard - which makes it inoperable - or susceptable to failed Booting instruction " IT " sends to the rest of the computer - before starting. Any noises heard when you turn it on - should be noted for additional help. - Good Luck

Forgot to add - if battery is shot/dead ...replace with same size & power - reinstall and plug in power from wall/outlet strip to try before the case back on! Might save alot of aggravation.

Mcdevito75 here, Your Monitor could be bad, (blown out) a monitor is just like a lite bulb. start your computer verify fan is on, verify monitor is on with on off switch on monitor, press shift key on keyboard maybe your computer is on stand by or hybirnation, also click the mouse at the screen left click and right click to bring picture to screen, if picture on monitor ok, if not press AUTO on the monitor, this brings back factory settings to your monitor. If all this fails, bring your monitor to a Radio Shack, Staples etc. for testing.

Blank Computer Screen

First I will suggest you to Return BIOS settings to their default levels. An overclocked or misconfigured BIOS can cause all sorts of random issues, including Black screen
After that restart your computer in safe mode by press and hold F8 keys until you get Advanced Options menu screen.Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter, your computer will boot automatically to safe mode
Inn safe mode Update your graphic drivers from your system manufacturer site
If this is helpless then simply get Reginout that cleans your computer of temp files, history and cookies. Its also used to fix any registry errors.
Hopefully it will help you

Have you tried booting in safe mode? Turn off computer, then turn it on and immediately hit the F8 key repeatedly until you see Safe Mode as an option. Take the safe mode option. Once it boots up all the way in safe mode see if you can go to Start/Programs and look for eRecovery to restore back to factory settings. If not, you should be able to get it back to factory settings in spite of the error code. Boot your computer and and try the Alt+F10 key to get the factory setting started. Try Alt+F10 when you see the Acer Logo. If it doesn't work try it when you first turn on the system.

Toshiba satellite L305-s5955 power turns Problem with the PC Laptops Toshiba satellite L305-s5955 power turns on, fan turns on. screen stays black. Will not power off with button. Power supply working....

Hello Kristi,

I'm not sure if this will work, but worth a try. It appears that your power up settings have got messed up somehow.

Put it all back together, batteries and charger. It will try to boot after a fashion. Just give it a couple of minutes to try and do what it should. If it still hasn't come on properly, press and keep pressed the on/off button until the laptop turns off (about 5 seconds). Leave it a couple of minutes then try and turn it on again normally.

After this, I'd need to be able to look at what's happening to help any more.

Your cpu might have died. As the computer is starting tap F8 and choose last known good configuration to see if you can get it started.

Will not boot but runs and will not talk to monitor

hi mikebal26 this is nichu,ok let me make you clear that your system is not booting because your cpu is not recognising some of the hardware it may be either your hdd,ram or any other.
.
if your system does not boot it has nothing to do with your monitor and fans.fans keep rotating whenever you switch on your pc.check inside the cpu especially with your ram .

so first when you turn on the system press delete to check it in the bios settings , in that check bootable addins and in the bootable devices set
1st priority to-cd rom,
2nd priority to hard disc drive,
3rd to priority to floppy drive.

.save the above settings and then boot this will turn on your system .
this will solve your problem
.

bye,
take care & have a nice day.
