Question about Mitsubishi WD-C657 65" HDTV

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi tv model no. WD-C657. The screen when on has black specks that blink then turn white--I now have 100's of white specks all over the screen when viewing. It is like the pixels are burning out. I believe after a few more weeks there will be no more picture but a completely white screen. We took the bulb out and there does not seem to be anything on it (it is sealed).

It is problem of DMD chip in light engine that is causing white dots in picture.
An experienced tv repairman can fix that problem by replacing defective board in light engine. This is not operational or some sort of settings issue.
Please call your local tv repairman or nearest Mitsubishi service center to repair the tv.
Hope this info will help you.

OK so I live in a very isolated area where service repair is premium. Aside from the repair persons charge is a dmd chip very expensive. I am deciding whether or not to scrap this tv and buy a new one or attempt to have this repair. Secondly can you purchase the dmd chip and replace it yourself?

Complete optical engine will be replaced to fix that problem, click Discount-Merchant and ask them about optical engine for WD-C657
It would cost you around $700 plus labor because experienced tech is needed for adjustments after replacement.
New LCD TV would be better option in that repair cost.

I need the shematics to install A DMD chip in my Mitsubishi Model WD-C657

When you take off the back cover you are pretty much looking at the chip. Right in front of you in the middle of the light engine is a little fan.
Remove the fan and you will see a big metal heat sink / shield. remove the sheild and you will see a circuit board. in the middle of the board is the dmd chip.

I have white spots and black spots on right side of Mitsubishi WD-C657. I've done research online, and have heard its the dlp chip. Is that true, and if so, is it something that I can replace myself,...

This tv is it the DLP projection light engine block main board itself is the problems, not easily to go into the tv itself and replacing the IC chip itself.Must take out many mechanical parts to get u the Light engine block it self.U can replaced IC but somethime the IC chip it replaced, will not solved the problems, because the tv problems now the it is spreading and going on beyond the IC chip itself. If want to keep this tv very exspensive repair,i would reconmend hire a bound qualify tv tech replaced the whole Light projection block itself, but first call Mitsubishi for some kind of deal, they might help with the repair amount cost.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-C657 with white spots all over it, its just over 2 years old (25months). I called Mitsubishi and they do not have a authorized tech in my area. They need an estimate before they can...

I have the same tv with the same problem and have found it to be the dmd chip which controls the mirrors. Once the chip begins to go it just gets worse and eventually will have to be replaced. Unfortunately you can't just go out and buy one and replace it yourself. It is mounted on the light engine circuit board and I got an estimate on the light engine from an authorized service representative and the cost for the part alone is about $900.00. The white spots are when the mirrors get stuck in the on position and if they get stuck in the off position they display a black dot, which I also have some of them. In a month's time my tv has gone from no dots to over 100 now. I have been searching to see if there is anyone who repairs the light engines instead of buying a new one, as this would surely be cheaper and I found a company that does this, but they will not do business with consumers only repair services. They are Hong Video Technologies, so if anyone out there knows how to get these engines refurbished and what it would cost, we both would be very appreciative.
