Question about Fuji FinePix Z5fd Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera will not connect with Mac

I've plugged the USB into my computer, but it doesn't show up on my desktop & I can't find it anywhere on my computer. The camera, however, recognizes that it is plugged into the USB. My iPhoto is my default program to upload my photos, & it opens immediately when I plug my camera in. But I have no option to upload any files from my camera. It is almost as if my computer recognizes my camera but it's not there.

It's driving me crazy.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your Mac.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Is your Micro USB cable a "B" or "A"?Micro USB "B" is for data/charging.
Micro USB "A" is for charging only and will not work for any kind of data transfer (pins not connected).
The connector will be labeled at the micro usb end.
When you plug the cable into your phone a popup will ask you if you want to connect to mass storage. Once you answer yes, you can connect to the phone just like a usb drive.

When I connect the camera the pics don't load

Does the camera show up on your desktop when you connect it? If so, just launch iPhoto. Inside iPhoto preferences, check the one that causes iPhoto to launch whenever you attach a camera, and you won't run into this behavior in the future. If the camera does not show up on your desktop, or in System Profile's USB column, then you have a bad USB cable or a bad USB port either on the camera or on your Mac.
