Spins on one cycle, but not the other

Either the belt broke or the hood switch is not working. Sometimes it could be the contacts in the main control knob but if everything else is working correctly, then check the belt, and the hood switch first.

5 Examine the drain hose and straighten if kinked. Remove any possible obstructions and ensure the end of the hose is no more than 96 inches from the floor, as this will cause water to flow back into the washing machine.

Check the solenoid operation on the outer one that operates the spin bar. There are two solenoids that move back and forth all the time when running called wig wag solenoids. Could be several things, but the most common is the lid switch. The little plastic rod on the lid strikes it when the lid is closed. Make sure the switch is not broke. You should hear it click when the lid is closed. If not then it is definitely that.

sounds as if you have a bad motor coupling( this machines equivilent to a belt), i would try to search through you tube for a video as how to replace , easier to watch someone then try to explain it, its def there ive seen it and its not a real bad repair, parts probably $25, a servicer will get 150 to 200 to do it
