Question about Gateway MX8738 Notebook
Sounds like your power jack may be faulty or bad connection to motherboard unfortunately. The only way to truly find out is by disassembling the laptop. You'll have to do this at your own risk of course, and test the terminals at the power jack to see if you are getting power through them, if you are, then the trouble is deeper in the motherboard.
