There is a small piece of plastic stopper at the bottom of the toner cartridge that you need to unscrew and remove in order to pull out the old one. This is being done if you are actually going to refill it with a compatible toner which is in plastic pouch or bottle. To open the toner hopper just push down left and right corner(lock) of the cartridge and pull the top cover towards you. Now you can refill it from the bottle or pouch.
But if you are going to use genuine toner cartridge it will not require you to remove the stopper to pullout the entire hopper. You just need to place the new cartridge upside down at the hopper..fit...then once it sits evenly..pull the plastic tab and tap the top portion to lose the content. Let's see how you go.
Just "changed" the toner.... and in my view, the big problem here is that it isn't so much CHANGING anything, but REFILLING the toner material. I FINALLY found the manual, and it's on page 5-10. The heading says ADDING TONER. so think of it like you are pulling out a drawer, setting the plastic toner container upside down on it, pulling off the tape, tapping the plastic container, and then carefully removing the empty toner box. Now that I've done it, the drawings on the toner box DO make sense. It's just that I was expecting it to be like changing the toner cartridges on a colour laser printer! Talk about confusing. CANON: if you are reading this, you should add a statement on the toner refill box that this procedure ADDS TONER and isn't at all CHANGING new for old.
Good luck!
First open the front door and then open left door of the photocopier , remove drun unit with cd unit lock with a green liver in front. press the handle grip part of the cartridge and turn right and pull out the cartridge and replace the new one.
You must take out a hook ( "L" at top left cartridge) first and then you can pull out the cartridge.
