Its not a big problem but it is caused by the soldering on the motherboard it needs to be reflowed so the best place to do that is at a local repair shop that specializes in the Xbox system

How to fix an xbox 360 that wont turn on

Hi mreisinger11,

It sounds to me as if you have the red ring of death. Unfortunately there aren't too many ways you can go about to fix this on your own without breaking your warranty.

My suggestion is to contact Microsoft customer support. They will either refurbish your 360 or give you another one free of charge.

What do you do when you turn on your xbox and a red ring comes up instead of a green one

Are you sure you are talking about the Original Xbox? Please make sure your posts are in the correct cateigory for easy finding and therefore better solutions by xbox 360 experts ;)

If you mean Xbox 360 instead of original xbox then refer to below.

DO NOT OPEN YOUR XBOX 360 CONSOLE!
Microsoft will fix it for free with free shipping. Takes about 2 weeks.
There is videos and different ways to fix it online but it will happen again with those half baked solutions. With those solutions the xbox will work sometimes 1 week and sometimes 6 months but the console will break again. Also for an incentive for you, Microsoft adds another year to your consoles warranty and a card to a free month of xbox live.

I have 2 red flashing rings on my xbox 360..how can i fix this without sending the console to MS?

Ah, this simply means it overheated, try moving it away from anything that would block heat from escaping the console, and give it a break. Try putting it in a cooler environment, but not to cold. Just make sure it doesn't get to hot.
Glad to help! :)

if theres two red lights all that means is that its overheating. unplug all ur cables and put it underneath ur bed for an hour, then plug everything back in and keep playing

Xbox 360 3 red lights can anyone please help?

That has absolutely nothing to do with the Hard drive. The red ring of death is a standard misfunction with the Xbox 360. You will have to contact your local game stores to see if they do Red ring of death fixes, send it in to microsoft, or attempt to red ring fix it yourself.

XBOX 360 RED RING OF DEATH ! HOW TO FIX IT

wrap it in towels. the reason is because sometimes you get the 3 lights because something is touching the data board but not communicating. let it sit in the towels and overheat for about 30 minutes. keep in mind leave it on!
In some cases this can also fix the four lights which means the xbox isn't able to communicate with your television. If it doesn't, get new xbox cables.

Xbox360 1 Red light, sometimes 2

there are two things that those light mean.
-the best solution is to VACCUM the dust out of the xbox before you get other problems. The collecting dust is making ur xbox overheat. So keep it clean before you get the 3 or 4 rings of death!
-also, take off that cooling system because the 360 works best without cooling fan.
-Finally, make sure your A/V cables are securely plugged in.

3 rings of death

Hey cpawlina, and Guest,

I understand exactly how you guys feel, believe me.

The only fix I have ever seen for this, (which usually co-incides with an act of god), is to remove the hard drive, and turn on the system without it. Sometimes this will make the 360 work.

The reason why this sometimes will solve the issue, is because the read/write times between the dvd-rom and hard drive become way too laggish, it will cause this red-ring to occur.

But if that doesn't help, then there is no easy fix to it. It has to be sent to microsoft, and get it fixed. I apologize for no other advise. I hope this works, and if not, I hope the guys at microsoft can be of better service then they're known for.

-Chad
