There are multiple ways to use the scanner on your Mac. If your Mac recognizes the scanner as a device, then you can use the scan from the Mac using Preview or Image Capture apps (in your Applications folder). You can also use Picasa by going to the import function and finding the scanner and try it from there. If you are having issues getting the HP scanner to recognize the Apple device. Here is the official website for the download from HP. Apple drivers sometimes do the job of getting the scanner to be recognized, but the official drivers might do better.

Hi,
Shortly after the world started upgrading to Snow Leopard, reports began emerging that many Hewlett-Packard printers were incompatible with the upgrade. So, you can wait till you get the updated driver which is compatible with Mac Snow leopard. Good Luck!
you will have to uninstall the scanner drivers from the computer in the control panel>scanners..then uninstall the printer drivers from the printer in the control panel and then run the wireless setup wizard on the printer then try reinstalling the drivers and the s/w using the disc that came with the printer......see if works
I am not an expert, only a c7280 user. I use my printer wirelessly and was having problem scanning when using the controls directly on the printer (scan menu). By trial and error, I tried scanning by going to HP solution center on my computer and just followed the directions from the scan menu. That worked. If you can print wirelessly, you can scan wirelessly. I agree the HP support is a huge waste of time. I only get mad talking to them.
