I've owned the same sharp 56" model 56dr650 for a little over a year and I'm too noticing flickering that very noticeable on the left side of the screen.
Bulbs go for as little as $150 including shipping and handling.

I have the same exact problem as above. Television is on for about an hour and then the screen goes nuts. I replaced the bulb with a new one. It worked for about fifteen minutes longer than the previous bulb, but then started flickering AGAIN. Frustrated.....Any ideas?

The Color wheel is the culprit-loud humming is the motor. Sometimes you can clean the silver reflective band on the wheel and the clicking-color shifts will stop, but replacing the wheel is the best solution. On ly replace Lamp when instructed by the hour counter warnings or if it does not light anymore. Sharp and other companies should help fix this, but they won't.

How did you get sharp to replace it for free? everyone review I have read so far says Sharp is not helpful at all...humming noise has been driving us crazy for two years...just came on with a "FINAL WARNING: REPLACE THE LAMP IMMEDIATELY"

Need to clean color weel

Hello
To clean the colourwheel do the following.

Soak cotton swab in denatured alcohol

Using a circular motion, swab gently one color area at a time

Use dry swab to remove film build up.

Repeat to ensure the wheel is thoroughly cleaned

DLP color wheels need to be cleaned approximately every six months to a year, if the environment they are placed in is smokey, greasy or dusty. Sometimes, restaurant owners or places with high customer traffic will find that their TVs are experiencing picture degradation due to the smoke-filled rooms or greasy fumes from kitchens. There is no need to replace the color wheel but just to do a quick cleaning to save money on replacement parts. Even if you have your TV at home, your DLP color wheel may require a cleaning occasionally to provide clean picture quality.

Loud Buzz

loud buzz is the color engine, turning the color wheel. Find instructions on how to take it out and clean it and that should fix that problem.

Sharp dlp 56dr6509 glass

That little glass only comes with the light engine. Not Available from parts distributor. Try Harding Glass or any other glass shop. They maybe able to supply if they would bother with asuch a small sale. Did you work on the Color wheel?? Dan@DBS pentad99907@mypacks.net

Picture fine for 10min.-then flickers(clicking sound)& then colors gone yellow

Looks like it's a color wheel problem-found a cleaning walkthru online, but it doesn't get rid of the loud hum form the CW motor. Also, it is thermal related-when the colors went out I placed a fan next to the color wheel and everything went back to normal. Several design flaws here and for $3000 these companies should do better-severe problems after a couple years is not acceptable.

Sharp 56dr650 Dlp colorwheel for Mike miaer

I have a Sharp 56dr650. The color wheel bearing failed. Sharp cares not for its customers and won't even respond to my pleads for help in obtaining the replacement. So, with that said, I went to ebay and bought a vizio color wheel (Omega TV in Hollywood, FL). Color wheel is incorrect and colors are all blue as is, so I pulled the color wheel off and did the same from the old one-BIG note, the wheels are glass and fragile, DO NOT BREAK the old color wheel! I viced the old bearing and carefully worked the shaft out of the bearing (it is snapped into the bearing). The vice distorted the old bearing but it was trash anyway. The new bearing, I broke the new color wheel off and viced the shaft. I then pulled the old bearing from the wheel. I then carefully push the old shaft and color wheel into the new bearing (you will know when it snaps in place) asserting preasure ONLY on the metal center hub with my thumb. I had to file a new slot on the cast housing as the ribbon connector is about 1/2 inch shorter on the new bearing. I installed and it all works great!!! Saved from tossing a $2,000 plus tv out! SHAME ON SHARP! Never buy another Sharp product!
