Usually this means that your hard drive has a bad sector (because of the hard drive needle scratching the disk itself; usually by dropping the laptop) Therefore you need to reinstall the Operating System. You *may* be able to retrieve info by extracting the hard drive and inserting it in an external case and plugging it into a different computer.
