My Mom wants to learn to use Microsoft Office Publisher. I have it at work but it was on this computer when I started. Is it automatically on any computer that has Microsoft Office or is there more software that needs to be purchased?

When installing Microsoft Officer, you have the option to select which applications to only install. If you have an installer at home, you can just insert the CD on your computer and select Microsoft Publisher from the list of applications and select Install.

I reloaded my Publisher 2003 from my original disk and it directed me to Microsoft sight and was supposed to have downloaded some improvements to it. Now I can't find it on my computer and it is not...

Reinstall the software.
Then, access http://WindowsUpdate.microsoft.com
and click "Upgrade to Microsoft Update".
After the upgrade, you'll be offered all the updates to Microsoft Office and Microsoft Publisher, and, of course, to Microsoft Windows.

Hi, I've just installed Microsoft Office Publisher 2010 on my PC (Vista Basic). It works fine and everything. However the saved publisher files have icons like blank pages and won't open automatically...

Hello:
You can manually locate Microsoft Publisher when going to the "open with" dialog. Follow the steps below:
  1. Right click on a Publisher file.
  2. Choose "Open With..."
  3. Choose "Choose Default Program..."
  4. A dialog box will open. There is a list of programs at the top.
  5. Near the bottom of the dialog box, there should be a link that says "Browse..." Click it.
  6. You need to locate the Microsoft Publisher Program. For Office 2010, it should be at:
x86: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 14\MSPUB.exe
x64: C:\Program FIles (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office 14\MSPUB.exe
7. Click once on the file and choose "Open" 8. Check the box called "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" 9. Confirm your selections and click "OK" at the bottom of the dialog box.

I have microsoft office 2010 and a back up disk. everything else works apart from publisher which constantly asks for product key. when i put it in it still wont let me use it

Hello:
Microsoft Office 2010 has three different versions. Confirm that you have Office Professional, the only version that includes Microsoft Publisher.
If you do have Professional, you should try to 'repair' the Publisher Installation. You can do this by inserting your Office installation/backup disk and running setup.exe. There should be an option to change the products that you installed and the ability to 'repair' the installation. This will essentially reinstall Publisher without disrupting your other programs and settings.

How do i set up microsoft office

I think it's just trying to get you to set up your email account in Outlook. That's the only place I can think of that Office would be requesting information about imap..
Here's a link if you want to learn about it, but basically gmail is an imap email provider Hotmail isn't.
You should be able to ignore this request until you get office set up and go into Outlook later, if you choose to use it to retreive your email, and set up your email accounts then.
What other errors or queries are you unsure about?
You might find Microsoft's help and resources of use. If your question is about Publisher in particular, go here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/FX100649111033.aspx
From there you can access Help & How to, and also download free training courses that will get you off to a running start.
If it's office in general, go to that section of the same site and see the options available. MS wants you to learn how to use their products, and really has a lot to offer if you look online.
If there's something more I can do to help you get started, please let me know. I'd be happy to do so.

    Can locate publisher

According to the product specs., Office Pro 2007 did not come with Publisher: Read:
In addition to the core Office XP programs - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint - Office XP Professional includes Microsoft Access 2002, the Office XP database solution that helps users store, access, and analyze their data.
    You have to purchase Publisher.
But good news, You can download OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org. It is free and comes with a Publisher compatible program. OpenOffice.org boasts two mid-level layout programs -- Draw and Writer -- each of which is far more versatile than its name suggests. You may have to go through the tutorial but it Free. and works well in windows.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
    Thanks, Joe
