Your system has a safety switch off due to a failure in one of the sections. The fault can be anywhere in the output or the power. You will need to switch off and test the output section with the aid of a multimeter for shorting. Check if your speakers also had shorted. If so remove and test. Next the fault can be the sub power or the section of the protect circuit. Use a test in this section but do this only if your are competant. Otherwise get help with this advice. Good day

My stereo sysytem is a mini stereo: serial number 10200055. It currently says "protect", what is this and how do we return our system to normal operations?

Hi there,

When the word PROTECT appears on this display, this means the unit has detected a critical fault which could potentially cause harm to your stereo system.

The most common cause is a short circuit somewhere - something even as simple as loose speaker wiring could cause a short, triggering the Protect message.

You will need to determine if there is a possible short somewhere, so I recommend you start by firstly turning power OFF, disconnecting all speaker wires, then turn unit back ON.

Operate the stereo (without speakers) and turn volume up:
  • If Protect message appears when turning volume up, then stereo unit itself has an internal fault
  • If no Protect message appears, then suspect the speakers may be causing the issue.
  • Reduce volume and turn unit OFF
Re-connect speakers (ensure the connections are secure), turn unit ON:
  • If turning volume up triggers the Protect message again, there is an issue with the speakers or connections

Hope this helps.....

The power went out and now the wii wont turn back on?

HI. this is a power supply issue. Your unit is equipped with an external power supply unit. This box incorporates all the necessary AC current regulators, and transfer agents to run the Wii. There are ,also, some protection circuits as well. These are in place to protect the unit from surges are unstable AC spikes as well. There is a fuse that is located inside the power supply box. Simple unplug the power supply, and gain access to the fuse, by removing the outer cover of the power supply unit. there are a few screws,(on the bottom), that hold the top cover. remove the screws, and open the power supply unit. this will expose the fuse. Kindly, inspect the fuse. if it shows signs of trauma, and it is blown, simply replace the fuse.

Now, if the fuse shows no signs of trauma, or burn marks, this will confirm power supply circuit failure. This will require that you replace this damaged power supply unit asap.

When i turn wii on, my tv says unknown signal

There is only two things i can think that can cause this. The first is that you have connected the Red, White, And Yellow. to the composite inputs (green, blue, and red) which will not work and will give that message. The second is that if the wii was working before and just stated showing this message is that it took an update (though a disk from another country) (can happen if this wii has a mod) and will turn the wii into like a canadian wii or japanse wii or something like that. I hope this helps you out.
Thanks
Steven.

Wii internet

WiiConnect24 allows the console to receive downloads even when the console isn't in active use, as long as it has a working connection to the internet. The types of information that can be received include News and Weather, messages posted to the Wii Message Board, and any messages sent by Nintendo about new Wii console features.
This disc slot of the Wii console will illuminate to indicate that you have received new information from WiiConnect24.
To Access the WiiConnect24 setting:
  1. Access the Wii System Settings (how to).
  2. Move the cursor over the blue arrow on the right and and select it once to reach System Settings 2.
  3. Choose "WiiConnect24."
The following options will be available:

Security

"Protect" isn't for security on a Kenwood; it's caused by a problem with the speaker output. There may be a defect in the CD player, or you may have a blown speaker or a shorted speaker wire in the vehicle. Try disconnecting all the speakers and see if the unit still shows "protect" when you turn it on. If it still shows the "protect" message with no speakers connected, the unit needs to be serviced; if not, re-connect the speakers one at a time until you find out which one is causing the problem.
