Question about PC Desktops

Hi, I have a DSL-504T ADSL router that has been running without any problems for some time. I just bought a wireless Dl-624S router. I have been unable to connect the wireless router to my ADSL router.I have been over the install for the wireless and at the same time Turned off the DHCP on the router. The problem is when all are connected up I can see the wireless and the LAN but connot connect to the internet. Can you please advise me of the settings and also should I be using the wireless WLAN to LAN router connection or LAN to LAN. Many thanks Gary.

Hello,

it seems you have bought a new wireles ADSL router, you dont need the old one anymore, you should connect the new adsl wireless router to your phoneline and then connect the pcs to it, you can sell the old router since you shouldnt need it anymore.

Posting more in a moment.

basicly after you have set the new adsl router to the phoneline. The internet should work automatically if not reset the adsl router by pressing and holding the reset button behind the device this will resume the default settings. And it should work automatically, this way we wont need to enter the setup and enable the dhcp server again.

Then proceed to edit your wireless adsl routers settings as you wish, I would recommend WPA encryption or wep if you must, wep is not secure, a hacker can gain access easyly to a wep protected network.

let me know if it doesnt work or if you need more assistance, I'm here to help.

Oh, seems I have confused the two models.

so your 624s doesnt have adsl build in your router had adsl

the connection should be the following:

Wall socket, phone cable to adsl router. From router networkcable to wireless box, router port 1 or 4, on the wireless box the cable should be connected to the port witch reads Internet or unplink. Its the alone port in the box there are 4 ports together and then one that is alone. connect it to that one.

    Now the wireing is correct.

the wlan box should automatically get a address from the router.

You might need to enter the wireless setup to configure wlan to lan.

Freind,
You should have a look on manual, if you don't have just goto the manufacturer's site and download a manual for your product.
I think it will help you in a better ways.

Thanks
Iqbal

Where do find my security key to connect to the internet..I,m trying to set up a new computer..Thanks

If you have access to a wireless computer that is already connected to and operating on your network, then you should go here and download this utility http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Im-88880-1&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en
and then run it. Once it fully scans, click on Show Advanced Tools in the bottom left of the window and select Retrieve WPA/WEP Key, it will be on the right side.

If you do NOT have a wireless computer available, then you need to loginto your router (sorry, but I do not know which router you have) and go to the wireless page. If you have WEP, just copy down the WEP key that has the radial button selected (green dot) and that is your key. If you have WPA, copy the Preshared key.

If you do not know how to get to your router setup, go to a computer that is conencted to your router by a LAN cord. Go to Start > Run and in the Run window type CMD. If you have Vista or Win 7, go to the Start Orb and just type CMD into the serch bar. In the command prompt window type IPCONFIG /ALL now look for Default Gateway (that's your router) and copy down the IP Address.
Now open a web browser utility and type that IP Address into the address bar.

Is there a way to hook into my dsl internet to get wifi

Does your DSL not have a wireless router? If not, you can certainly get one for cheap...walmart has Belkin/Netgear/ASUS wireless routers for about $40...the instructions are pretty straight-forward. It's a cheap and easy. let me know if you need assistance.

To configure the modem You will need to use the cd provided.

  9. It will be more easy for you to configure it.
  10. Be sure to have the username and password from the ISP for the internet access, you may need to reconfigure it from start. or if you may need to reset the modem
  11. At times to access your modem you will need to set the ip of your network card to the same range.
  12. To set the ip go in control panel then open network connection
  13. Doulbe click the local area connection.

I have a DSL502T ADSL Router, and have bought a new emachines computer. I can not connect to the internet. The computer has a wireless connection loaded but I want to connect by dailup Please could you help...

You are a bit confused with the various components required for Internet connections.
If you have a dial-up connection with an Internet Service Provider, all you do is connect your computer's modem port to the phone line and dial the phone number of your Internet Service provider.
If you are connected to the Internet Servise Provider by ADSL and have a combined ADSL router and modem then you connect the phone line to this router/modem. If the ADSL modem is separate component then the phone line is connected to the ADSL modem and this modem is connected to the router with a LAN cable and the computer is connected to the router with another LAN cable. If the route is wireless and the computer has a wireless card then you don't need a LAN cable between the router and the computer.
If you are connected to the Internet by ADSL, to secure your Internet connection and configure your computer so it can connect to the Internet, please follow my instruction - click on this link :-

Windows live sync will not connect

This is the last IP before it his the service provider. Basically your modem router IP will be the gateway.

I had a similar problem configuring an IP webcam. The camera had a built in router and was wireless. So the footage captured went through its own router, over wireless, into another router (the modem) and out over adsl. I had to put the modem/router IP into the dns box on the camera menu.

Hope this helps

I just bought a laptop and we recently got a DSL connection, I'm not sure how to connect my laptop wirelessly ( Do I need anything else?).

If you would like to connect wirelessly to your DSL connection you will need a wireless router if your modem is not a combination modem/wireless router (You can ask your ISP regarding this). You may go to
www.linksys.com and www.netgear.com so that you may look at routers that will suit your needs.

Hi charisa12, before losing your temper pl delete the driver for wireless adapter and try to reload the OEM driver if possible, it may work fine.

Hi, i have a belkin adsl2 modem with wireless- g router model f5d7632-4 and it was working fine but now i am getting no connection at all (no adsl light) checked all my wires/filters am stuck! i am on...

Check with your Network provider, and ask them if they can run a line check. No adsl can be problem with either the line or hardware.

But before that do check with your modem as well.
