Tip & How-To about Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeeps - All Windows and/or Locks don' work.

It is widely known that Jeeps have a problem with the Driver's Side Windows/Locks Control Module wiring harness that prevents all window motors and/or Power Locks from working. This may be due to the way the harness was laid out.

Over time, the wires feeding this circuits, brake or came loose from the harness connector on the drivers door.

The solution is to remove the rubber boot at the door, unplug the harness from the door and repair the broken, disconnected wires. Check all wires carefully, sometimes you can't tell they are broken because it's insulation, pay special attention to the BLACK wire, it provides the (-) ground to the whole circuit.

This simple procedure will relieve you from the great head ache that is not to be able to roll up or down your door windows.and/or power locks.

Don't forget to rate this Tip !!!! Thanks!

What can be the problem if driver side window don't go up but in stead it locks the doors

Did you recently work on your car door? Chances are your connections are crossed between the door lock and window button. Most cars have wire harnesses that prevent you from making a bad connection. But if you or someone recently removed your door panel to make repairs chances are your wiring harness was damaged or removed and reinstalled incorrectly. A door lock control cannot just start controlling your window motor.

What could be wrong with the power window switches

Do all the windows work from this switch? Could be the switch not sending power to the others. But, All Jeeps are bad for window regulators.

power door locks and windows

The answer to your question is maybe. Get a couple of switches from a junkyard (my guy gets $5.00 each) and try them. Here's why: I have no less than five different wiring diagrams, and none of them make any sense at all (been doing this stuff a really long time) I keep a good switch handy to check my jeeps when one gets wierd on me...even so, my 93 passenger window works with the key off, none of the others do. Stopped trying to figure it out a long time ago, but would really like to meet the guy who designed this stuff!
