How do you replace nic card in hp pavillion a305w?

If the NIC card is built-in you need to buy a seperate NIC card that can be inserted to the PCI-e slots of your computer's motherboard

Hello Sqis,

You can purchase any nic card which is compatible with WinXP or 7.

Insert the card in PC Slot of the motherboard.

Install the driver for the card and it will work.

hello, Did you try going in BIOS and disbale the onboard card there and then try it? also install the utility that came with pcmcia card to manage that card.
though you should not have to even disable the onboard card for the other one to work.
just as a note if a card utility is installed by default that utility is managing that card and doesn't let windows manage it or even see in windows wireless section.

let me know if that helps.

good luck

PC says no ethernet card (NIC) after reinstalled

First make sure the card (if a stand alone card ) is properly set in place (you'll have to open the computer and manually test it . Do this with the computer off!). If this is not the case or, you have the card built into the motherboard, you should re-install the drivers from your original installation CD. Otherwise you may need a friend or, atrip to a library/colleg etc, to download the proper drivers.

I HAVE HP PAVILION 13121N AND MECHANIC HAS INFORMED US THAT DP IC NEEDS REPLACEMENT. WE CAN GET FROM HP ONLY. PLEASE HELP

Do not call that technician again, and tell your family and friends about him. Your system is fine and is easily fixable.
This DP IC he is referring to is actually your network interface card, or "NIC." The NIC is what enables your system to connect to broadband networks, like the internet. Your particular motherboard happens to have a NIC built into it, which is nothing unusual. But your motherboard is also built so that you can install your own if you want or need to. The same goes for sound and video cards as well.
Just go to your local computer vendor and purchase a new NIC for about 20 dollars or so. Best Buy and Radio Shack probably have them too. You can install it to a PCI slot on your board. It does require opening the case (the tower), so if you are not comfortable doing this then you can call a tech. Anyone who charges you more than 60 dollars labor for the job is robbing you blind.

Can I add a NIC card to my compaq presario pc sr5250nx? I keep loosing my internet connection every five minutes and have to reboot the computer to reconnect

you should be able to
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00840496.pdf

if your system is still within warranty I would think twice about opening the case yourself to installing a new network card.. you will be voiding your warranty.. so think about it

another thing i would try before deciding on going for another network card is to check your onboard network adapter has updated drivers... or you may want to reinstall the drivers for that adapter.. either one of those may probably fix your issue assuming is not a hardware failing given that your system may not be that old.... make sure you check the windows update and look for any new hardware driver for your network adapter that may be avaliable through windows update.

before you install your new network pci card you may have/want to disable the one on board going into your bios for that. so to ensure there's no resource conflicts when installing the driver for your new card (it may not be a problem even if you don't but if you run into problems while installing the new card consider this suggestion)
