Problem getting the printer to print with the correct alignment
HP 1210 Printer: I am trying to print on 5.5"x8.5" paper and it prints half off the paper to the right. Basically it seems to think that it is printing on regular letter size paper, although it is set to print on the correct size paper and the page set up is set correctly. What am I doing wrong?

Most likely to be a page feed problem, look online to clean page feeder rubber rollers.
Try here for the pdf manual which covers problem with jams and skewing
Make sure you inserting the paper not deep inside just insert and stop it when you feel any resistance .and try to print something. If it is print then well otherwise you have to show it service center.
Alignment of ink cartridges is very essential for the for the printer to print
so first of all be sure that you are using geniun ink cartridges
now lets try a reset on your printer
press the # and 3 button on your printer together and then unplug the power cord from your printer and keep pressing the buttons
now wait for 5 sec
and while pressing # and 3 replug the power cord
wait for the printer to initialize and see if it prints alignment page
if no page is printed then click on the start button of the computer and then go to printers and faxes and then right ckick on the icon of your printer and click on printing preferences now go to the features tab and click on the button that says align print cartridges
wait for the alignment page to print and now try and see if it prints fine
(bottom left corner windows START) got to; start/settings/printers/ and click
right click your printer and select printing preferences click on the tab that says SERVICES then click on the services icon button (picture)
you will see three choices; align, clean print a test page.
Aligning is what you want.(calibration is just a different word)
You can also remove the ink cartridges as you usually do and then put them back in, this triggers and automatic printed page and then walks you through scanning and the alignment.*s*
if by chance you still have blurry printing and know your machine should be ok, try cleaning.( same procedure, different last choice- you clean the heads)
You can also check to see if the proper paper is selected. For instance, if you are trying to print heavy greeting card paper it must be set to that or it will not print properly. *s*
If you have thrown up your hands and tried all this, and nothing works. Go through your printer preferences and select SET DEFAULT SETTINGS buttons. It will knock everything back to the way it left the factory *S*
Thank you and good luck. Please remember to give my answer a rating *S*
On the printer hold down the CANCEL button then press and hold the ON/RESUME button until the CHECK PAPER and CHECK PRINT CARTRIDGE LIGHT both blink simultaneously.
When both lights are blinking press CANCEL, COPIES, PAPER TYPE, and COLOR START COPY one after the other. All this must be done in under 10 seconds for it to work. Once this sequence of buttons is completed correctly in under ten seconds an alignment page will print.
