Becker radio displays WAIT

to get it working again when the "WAIT" comes on it may take 10/15 minutes before the "WAIT" to go off and then i turned the volume control to the first code number, then push am/fm button to lock it in. repeat until all the code numbers are in and the radio will start normal operation. There is a code number card that comes with the radio, if you do not have it, go to the mb dealer with your vin number and they will give you the code number.

When my receiver is plugged into my boom box, I get a display reading "check cradle for power"

It's not receiving enough power from the boombox so the voltage drops too low for the receiver to function properly. Check the cradle connector for bent or pressed pins and the power source of the box for proper functioning: measure the voltage it delivers and the status of its components, especially the filtering capacitors.

1995 BMW 3 Series Why is the radio display blank

Typically, these radio displays go dark because the surface-mount resistors on the circuit board crack loose from the board after a few thousand operating cycles.
How handy are you with a soldering pencil?
You need a special 5-sided tool to loosen the two screws under the little doors in your radio face. You can buy those tools on line, or if you are lucky, you might be able to loosen those screws with some other sharp object
Then you pull out the radio and unplug the wires from the back of it. The big plug is REALLY difficult to release and unplug, so it might be easier to just work on the radio with it dangling from your dash.
Take the top cover off the radio. Then remove the four screws that hold in the cassette carrier and pull it out. A magnetic screwdriver is really helpful for this job. Those tiny screws can get away from you. Take the face off the radio. No need to pull off any knobs or buttons, just remove the screws, release the snaps across the bottom, unplug it, and remove it.
Now, near the font edge of the circuit board you will find several tiny surface mount resistors. They are rectangular and not much bigger than grains of beach sand. If you look at them with a magnifying glass, you will likely find that one or more of them have cracked solder joints. If you can freshen up those solder joints with a sharp soldering pencil, your display should illuminate again. I have fixed both the displays in the radios in my two '97 328s this way.
If you unplugged the radio and pulled it out, you will need the radio code to restart it. If you did not get the code from the previous owner, the dealer can get it for you if you give him the serial number off the radio.

Bought a cobra lx le from sparkys cb shack. using the radio as a base station. with the radio turned off , when i turn the power supply on a pyramid ps-7kx the radio face plate lights up for a couple of...

This is normal for the LXLE's. The new circuitry power the new face plate uses a small high voltage transformer and if power is applied to the receptacle on the radio it is drawing some current. When the power supply is turned off or on with the on/off switch on the LXLE turned off there is still a spike of current going through the radio. Not to worry, it will hurt nothing. If this is truly a problem, someone could probably design a little diode circuit to stop this issue. I would if I could but am not that smart.

Will the 257 work on 11 meters/cb40 channels?

The Magnum 257 is a 10-meter Amateur radio, but it can be easily modified to operate on the 11-meter CB radio band. The modification and use of this radio on the CB frequencies is, of course, illegal. To modify one of the newer blue-faced models (this will not work on the original yellow-face models), remove the speaker side cover and look for the CPU board in the front of the radio close to the mic connector. This board has four sets of pins and a jumper that fits on the pins. To convert/expand the radio, move the connector to the CON3 position. This will give you frequency coverage from 25.165 to 29.699 MHZ, and the CB frequencies will be on Band E of the radio. Again, this modification, and use of the radio on the CB frequencies, is illegal. This modification information is provided for shop/calibration and experimental use only.

My radio in my 2007 Acadia works fine , but the display just went blank .....Is there a separate fuse for the display ??? Thanks in Advance !!!

Unfotunately not. there is normally a small globe or LED running the face display. Remove the radio and open it up. Check the face side for any light bulb or LED. If it is a light bulb, you should be able to get a replacement part, Otherwise send it in for a repair. Hope this helps.

I have a non-lighting Cobra 29 NW face plate, or EL Driver problem . EL Driver is the small metal box mounted inside, to the side, of the the Cobra 29 near the channel selector control . Can anyone tell me...

that is a power inverter. dc to ac inverter. 13-14volts to 40+ volts ac. to run the el display.. if the display is pulled away from the face like the glue is coming loose that indicates the el display is burnt and will not work unless replace the face plate the el face.. you should have 45volts AC on the two wires feeding into the main chassis face to the el display.

I have a Kenwood KDC MP532U. The face plate will not display.

it more than likely has bad solder connections inside the radio on some surface mount resistors usually located on the right front of the radio as it faces you.
