1 Answer

The off and on button seems to have quit operating. It needed new batteries. We installed them and then we are unable to turn the camera on.

As a first step towards resolving your issue, we recommend you restore
the camera's default settings. You can reset all of the menu and button
operation settings to default except for Date/Time, Language, and Video
System. To reset these settings, please follow these steps:

1. Take the memory card and battery out of the camera for 20 minutes.

2. Please use a clean pencil eraser to rub the contacts on the battery.
Please do not store the batteries in the camera for travel. The
batteries will discharge even if the camera is not powered on.

3. Place a fresh (or fully recharged) battery in the camera.

4. Turn the camera on.

5. Put the camera in picture taking mode. Ensure the display is on.

I turned the camera on. The screen came on then quit like the batteries were dead. I replaced the batteries, then bought new ones. I cannot get the camera to come on when I move the "on"...

ths issue happens every so often on these cameras. for some reason it seems the camera has issues interacting with the lens motor and turns off. you need to make sure the len shoot is clean of obstruction and try to give it a wiggle or turn. leave the batteries out of the unit for about 5 minuts and for 10 seconds before hold the power button over. then place the batteries in the unit. this is something that i have happen to my unit atleast 2 or 3 times a year.

"Turn the on knob"? You turn on the N2020 by lightly pressing the shutter release button. Do the meter indicator LEDs inside the viewfinder light up when you lightly press the shutter release button?

Error message: "Lens error, restart camera" unable to get it to work Have powered on & off several times. Also removed batteries and powered on several times all to no avail.

There are 2 fixes I know for this you can try.

1. Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.

2. If the camera's batteries ran down completely while the its lens was still open, the camera may show a lens error or not start properly when new batteries are installed. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries. When you turn the camera on with the card removed it may come back to life, as this triggers a reset in some cameras. You don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the sd card and turn it on one last time.

Nikon L100 shows battery exhausted error message after installing new batteries. Unable to perform any operations on camera

That's the bug in Nokin L100, update the firmware version from 1.0 to 1.1, this will solve the battery exhaust problem. Firmware version 1.0 has only 2 battery (Alkaline and Lethium) option where as Firmware version 1.1 has Nickle battery also. But, to update the firmware you need to have EH-67 AC Adapter to give power to the camera.

A345 won't turn on

I experienced exactly the same problem with my A345. Check for a small L shaped lug on the inside of the battery cover which should operate an interlock switch located in the recess next to the PUSH TO EJECT label. The lug on my camera had snapped off, although this wasn't obvious until I looked at the illustrations on pages 10 and 11 of the owner manual.

My quick fix was to wedge a piece of matchstick into the recess to lock the switch in its operational position. The purpose of the switch seems to be to ensure that the camera is switched off when the cover is open, but as the battery connection relies on the cover being closed, this is liable to be the case anyway. The only possible risk would seem to be if one attempted to remove the memory card with the camera switched on while being run from an external power supply.
