Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer

"waiting for report" /won't copy

I have this message, "waiting for report" and the machine won't copy until that message is satisfied.  i've printed all 4 of the report options.  i've read the manual - haven't found that message in the manual.

    I'm having the same problem. I've printed out reports etc. same as dahl. The website was not helpful with their solution (that I needed to reload paper and make sure my paper size was correct).



    I am concerned it is related to "received in memory" which comes up when the ink is "low" or a recycled cartridge is used. I am able to print these faxes out manually, print from the computer, and make copies but it seems Canon wants to make sure I use their cartridges. Any other solutions?

I experienced this problem when "Fax Setting -> TX Setting -> Print Report" is configured before you send out the fax.
After your Fax was sent, and the message "Waiting for report" appear forever and does not leave.
It is because your INK Level is Low and your have set "Fax Setting -> RX Setting -> Auto Print ON -> Print when no ink OFF", and so the report will not be printed out due to ink level is low.

Solution:
Configure "Fax Setting -> RX Setting -> Auto Print ON -> Print when no ink to ON", and the report will be printed out immediately, the message disappear.

    Awesome! The funny thing is I think it's obvious that this is the problem, but the panic factor eliminates the obvious when you are needing to do something RIGHT NOW, lol! Thanks for the recommended tip :)

I had the same problem. message "waiting for report" appears on the LCD, I replaced the ink cartridge, (my ink was already low), after that everything was fine.

I had the same problem, and the solution works. It is VERY stupid of Canon, for the following reasons:

  1. I had plenty of black ink, but was out of color ink. Error pages print out in black and white. But Canon is apparently too stupid to figure this out.
  2. I was Transmitting documents, but the menu option is NOT in TX settings, but in RX (Receive) settings! Nevertheless, it affect TX error pages!

    Stupid squared. Bad enough an ink problem is giving a transmission error, but to hide the fix in the receive settings with no reference in the manuals - this is Chinese quality, not Japanese.

The Royshum comment above was excellent and solved the problem but just a heads up that my settings were slightly different than how it was listed in his comment. Mine was: Menu button, Auto Print Settings, OK button, Print when out of ink, OK button, then choosing "Print" instead of "Do Not Print", OK button.

    • [Address Book] - This report lists all of the fax numbers and e-mail addresses currently stored in the machine's memory.
    • [Send Report] - This report lists the fax number, the number of pages, the elapsed time of the job, the communication mode, and the communication results for a particular fax job.
    • [Sent Report] - This report lists information about the faxes and e-mails that have recently been sent. The machine can be configured to automatically print this report every 50 communications.
    • [Fax RCV Report] - This report lists information about the faxes that have recently been received.

How to read meter on mfx-3530?


You can print the machine's information and job report.
1. Press Menu on the control panel.
2. Press the up/down arrow to highlight System Setup and press OK.
3. Press the up/down arrow to highlight Reports and press OK.
4. Press the up/down arrow until the report or list you want to print appears.press OK.
To print all reports and lists, select All Reports.
5. Press the left/right arrow to highlight Yes at the Printing? prompt and press OK

I've installed color cartridge but it won't print in color


Try to re-insert the color cartridge into the printer and make sure it is properly seated in the cartridge carrier.
If that doesn't help, try to clean the print nozzles. Please follow the steps below:
1. Press Copy. 2. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display. 3. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display. 4. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles. 5. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.

HP LaserJet 3050, 3055, 3390, 3392 AiO Product - How to Print a FAX Confirmation Report Description By default, a Fax Confirmation report (Fax Call Report) will only print when a fax error occurs. However, this option can be changed using the printer control panel.
  1. Press the right arrow until Reports appears in the display, press the checkmark.
  2. Press the right arrow until Fax Call Report appears in the display, press the checkmark.
  3. Press the right arrow until Print Report appears in the display, press the checkmark.
  4. Right arrow to the option of choice, press the checkmark to save the change.
FAX call report options
  • Send Fax Only - a confirmation sheet will only print when a fax is sent
  • Never - no fax confirmation sheets
  • Every Error - default setting
  • Send Error - a fax confirmation prints when the fax transmission encounters an error

Pin code reached the copy limit. How to re-set the copy limit for pin code?


The Auditron feature is used to prevent the machine from being used by unauthorized users and also to track the total number of copies or prints produced with each account. When the total number reaches the upper limit set up by machine administrator, users cannot use the copy feature on the machine. Before resetting the machine you will want to print a usage report. Those instructions are at the bottom of these instructions.
  1. Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel. See the Related Items below for additional information on navigating the Control Panel.
  2. Press the [Select] button below the Display Screen to select 'System Settings.'

  3. Use the numeric keypad on the Control Panel to enter the Administrator Login ID, then press the [Select] button to confirm.

    NOTE: The default System Administrator Login ID is set to 11111. The System Administrator mode allows you to customize many settings on the machine to suit your particular requirements. The machine enters the Machine Administrator mode only when a correct System Administrator login ID is entered.

  4. Press the [Select] button until 'Auditron Admin' is highlighted, and then press the [Enter] button on the Control Panel to confirm selection. The Auditron Administration screen will be displayed.
  5. Press the middle [Select] button until 'Reset Acc Limit' is highlighted, and then press the [Enter] button. The 'Reset Accounts' screen will be displayed.

SAYS UNABLE TO CLEAN


"How do I clear the message Unable to..." ( "Unable to Change" "Unable to Clean" "Unable to Init" "Unable to Print" "Unable to Scan" )?

Step1: To clear the message follow the steps listed below:
1. Check for foreign objects, such as a paper clip or scrap of paper, inside the machine.Unplug the machine from the power outlet and open the scanner cover by pulling up on the lower right corner of the cover. Look inside the machine and remove any foreign objects. If you see jammed paper or another item inside this area, gently pull it out and then close the scanner cover securely.
2.If the error continues to appear, the machine may have a mechanical problem.If the error message continues to appear, the machine will need to be reset. Resetting the machine will erase all faxes in memory and the Fax Journal Report. Please make sure you have followed the instructions in the Step1.
3.If the error still continues to appear, move the print head and examine under the print head.
3-1.Disconnect the Brother machine from the poweroutlet.
3-2.Open the scanner cover by pulling up on the lower right corner of the cover.
3-3.Check the print head's position.
3-4.Gently move the print head to the center.
3-5.Examine under the print head. If anything is found, remove it.Use a flashlight if necessary to check thoroughly.
3-6.Close the cover and reconnect the machine to the power outlet.
If the message continues to appear on the LCD, the machine will require repair.

Step2: Check if the machine has faxes in its memory
1.Transfer the Fax Journal Report
1.Press Menu/Set or Menu on the Control Panel of the machine.
2.Press the up or down navigation key until Service appears on the LCD. Then press Menu/Set or Menu.
3.Press the up or down navigation key until Data Transfer appears on the LCD. Then press Menu/Set or Menu.
4.Press the up or down navigation key until Report Trans appears on the LCD. Then press Menu/Set or Menu.
5.The LCD will prompt you to enter a fax number. Enter the number of the fax that you want to receive and print the report. Press Black(Mono) Start.
2.Verify and Transfer faxes in memory

1.Press Menu/Set or Menu on the Control Panel of the machine.
2.Press the up or down navigation key until Service appears on the LCD. Then press Menu/Set or Menu.
3.Press the up or down navigation key until Data Transfer appears on the LCD. Then press Menu/Set or Menu.
4.Press the up or down navigation key until Fax Transfer appears on the LCD. Then press Menu/Set or Menu.
5.If there are no faxes saved in memory, NO DATA will appear on the LCD. Continue to Step 3. If faxes are present, the LCD will prompt you to enter a fax number. Enter the number of the fax that you want to receive and print the faxes. Press Black(Mono) Start .
3.Reset the machine
After the Fax Journal Report and faxes in memory have been transferred to another fax machine, disconnect the Brother machine from the power source for several minutes and then reconnect it.

How can i generate incoming call report ?


To print a report:
  1. Press the [Menu] button on the Control Panel, until Reports is displayed on the top line of the Display Screen. The Phone Book menu item will be displayed on the bottom line.

    • Phone Book: Phonebook list
    • Sent Report: Sent fax report
    • RCV Report: Received fax report
    • System Data: System data list

    • MSG Confirm: Message confirmation
    • Junk Fax List: Junk fax number list
  3. Press [Enter] to print the selected information.
Your machine can print reports containing useful information. The following reports are available:
  • Phonebook List: This list shows all of the numbers currently stored in the machine's memory as Speed Dial and Group Dial numbers. You can print this phonebook list using the [Phonebook] button.
  • Sent Fax Repor: This report shows information of the faxes you recently sent.
  • Received Fax Report: This report shows information of the faxes you recently received.
  • System Data List: This list shows the status of the user-selectable options. You may print this list to confirm your changes after changing any settings.
  • Scheduled Job Information: This list shows the document currently stored for Delayed faxes or Toll Save faxes. The list shows the starting time and type of operation.
  • Message Confirmation: This report shows the fax number, the number of pages, the elapsed time of the job, the communication mode, and the communication results. You can set up your machine to automatically print the message confirmation report after each fax job.
  • Junk Fax Number List: This list shows up to 10 fax numbers specified as the junk fax numbers by using the Junk Fax Setup menu. When the Junk Fax Barrier feature is turned on, incoming faxes from those numbers will be blocked. This feature recognizes the last 6 digits of the fax number set as a remote fax machine’s ID.
  • Multi-Communication Report: This report is printed automatically after sending documents from more than one location.
  • Power Failure Report: This report is printed out automatically when power is restored after a power failure, if any data loss occurs due to the power failure.

NOTE: The lists you have set to automatically print out will not print out when there is no paper loaded or a paper jam has occurred.

We are getting a message "waiting on report" when trying to fax

H P Photosmart C4180 All-in-One Printer - Scanner - Copier--no go.


Go to the printer SETUP button. Select the TOOLS option, then pressed OK. First, select the CLEAN PRINT CARTRIDGES option. Wait until it finishes. Second, select the ALIGN PRINT CARTRIDGES, under same TOOLS menu.Wait until this finishes and let me know if this cleared the wrong message.

Report of fax


Hey renzo737 - Follow these steps to have your machine print a report after you send each fax:

1)Hit the Fax button, then the Menu button.
2)Press the < and > buttons to scroll until you reach
TX Settings. Hit OK.
3)Use the < and > buttons to scroll until you reach TX REPORT.
Then hit ok.
4)First you want ATTACH TX IMAGE and then you want
PRNT FOR EACH TX.(it may also say as TX REPORT)

On your machine under TX report it may just say PRINT ERROR ONLY, which means only print if there's an error, or the PRNT FOR EACH TX. You'll find it easily. You want the print for each tx option. This will print a report and give confirmation that your fax went through after each fax. If you have any problems understandind this or need more help just give a shout.
