Its not, and this is common after about a handful of uses. The igniter is covered with sooot or grease or broken. They sell universal igniters at Sears for like 3 or 4 dollars. Your only other option is to strike long length matches and use those to light it. Be careful , always stand back when lighting grills or any kind off fire. hope this helps.

thanks for this. I went to the troubleshooting section for weber and they told me to turn everything off, close the valve on the propane tank, disconnect the propane tank, then turn all burners on for at least a minute. Then I re-connected the tank, and slowly (per their instructions) opened the valve. It worked!

Weber grill will not light

you have to narrow down the problem.when you turn the propane on first at the tank (make sure lid is OPEN) and then turn on the burner control are you smelling gas ? If yes then its simply ignition (BBQ lighter to light manually) if no smell are you sure there is propane in the tank ? Can still feel like fuel inside when empty.if you smell gas but won t light check your venturi valves for spider nests, etc if it sat outside for the winter.it will stop the propane from coming thru the burner.Good luck (my money would be no fuel ) please let me know !

the regulator could have gone into lock up.
try this to unlock it...
  1. Open the BBQ Lid

  3. Turn the Propane tank valve to the "OFF"/CLOSED position
  4. Disconnect the Regulator hose from the Propane tank
  5. Turn ALL main control knobs to the "ON"/OPEN position
  6. Let stand for 1-2 minutes, allowing all excess gas in valves and manifold to dissipate
  7. Turn ALL control knob back to the "OFF"/CLOSED position
  8. Reconnect the regulator hose to the Propane tank- hand tighten only.
  9. Check all hose connections to ensure that a positive seal has been made
  10. SLOWLY turn "ON"/OPEN the propane gas supply
  11. Wait approximately 5 seconds for the regulator pressure to stabilize
  12. Turn "ON"/OPEN the selected burner control knob to "HI"

Grill will not light

If there is no gas check the tank, If the tank is fine look at the regulator. It has to be flat, because of a valve inside. This is a safety device incase of tipover.
