Question about Televison & Video
Any brand and any model of rear projection tv that has 3 picture tubes (red-green-blue) to generate and project the picture at tv front screen will have convergence section.
R61WH76 is rear projection tv that has three picture tubes inside to produce an image, now picture tubes location is different so tv will show 3 images of red, green and blue tubes. All these three images need to convergence on each other to get one picture, this is done by convergence section.
I think repairman might got confused with other type of tv that calls DLP, it has one lamp for back light source and light engine to produce image on front screen. This process is similar as multimedia projector that throw image on wall screen in conference room.
Take off back of your tv to confirm that it has 3 picture tubes inside.
Hope these info will help you.
