Take a look here.
(if you need to reset the router to factory setings, push something into the reset hole on the back of the router)

I am connected to the internet. I can access all websites. I have two programs "First Class" an email server and Buddy for CLZ Barry a program that connects to my iphone to receive books i have...

You have to configure port forwarding in your router. Do you know what ports are used by "Buddy for CLZ Barry" and "First Class" (it probably uses port 21)? After you figure out the port numbers, follow the port forwarding steps documented in the router manual. Here's the link to the router manual:

Won't let sign into my buddy list

Try rebooting the router to make sure the connection is established.

Next check to make sure you have a connection to the router.

Lastly make sure your router is connected to the internet properly.

There's no place on modem to hook router

Look for Ethernet jacks. You want to hook both your computer and your daughter's laptop to the router to out ports i.e. usually on the front side. The back side of router would hook using probably another Ethernet jack to your modem.
