Onkyo 875 suboofer problem

I have an onkyo 875 which i have connected to a panasonic 700 plasma tv as well as a panasonic bd 40 blue ray player.  they have been connected via hdmi.  i have snell speakers, including an amplified suboofer.  the three front speakers work fine but the subwoofer is not emitting sound.  on the speaker setup from the receiver, the subwoofer is not identified in the testing mode.  i also checked with the dvd player and it also did not recognize the subwoofer.  both units recognized the other speakers...

My subwoofer channel was working but has decided to stop working,
everything else works fine. I tried full system reset, and unpluging
unit for an hour. I changed wires and checked all connections, the port
is just not putting out a signal. I just got this thing the other day.

I found the solution, there are 2 jacks that say sub-woofer, it is easy
to put it in the wrong one, use the ones toward the outside of the
receiver. The one marked for multiplex does not output, I have not
figured out what multiplex is for yet.

Because Blue-Ray isn't what it's cracked up to be. In fact no TV studio will even consider using one.

Hi I have a Yamaha yht 292 surround sound system with a model htr 6230 reciever. I have a panasonic (42'') plasma HDTV (model TC P42X1) attached to the receiver by a HDMI cable. I also have a Samsung Blue...

As per HTR-6230 specifications (http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=5028494&CTID=5000400&ATRID=1020&DETYP=ATTRIBUTE) the HDMI function is only "audio-passthru", which means your receiver is not able to get the audio from HDMI cable, it can only pass it forward to TV. You would need a receiver with "HDMI switch" to be able to listen to audio via HDMI cable. You can find such receiver by looking if it supports TrueHD audio (which can be transferred ONLY via HDMI cable).

With your current receiver, you can connect it to the Blue-ray player via Optical SPDIF cable. I have checked the specs and both receiver and BD player supports optical connection.

HDMI connection with Panasonic DMP-BD35K Blu-Ray Disc Player

Try hooking the Panasonic up straight to the tv without going through the receiver. If it displays a picture its obviously not the blu-ray player. May also be a problem with the HDMI cable itself. Hope this helps.

No HDMI Output

My configuration:
ZONE 1 (living room)
DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 1 [S-Video out] -> [S-Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [HDMI out] -> [HDMI in] Sony KDS-60A3000 rear projection TV

ZONE 2 (living room)
DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 2 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] Samsung AQUOS LCD TV

Problem:
ONKYO receiver stops sending video signal to my ZONE 1 Sony TV through the HDMI connection. ZONE 2 may still receive video. (NOTE: the issue might be related to the upconverter circuitry?)

Symptom:
I couldn't see any video, but I could hear the Tuner 1 audio through my ONKYO. An important clue is that I couldn't see ONKYO's on-screen display menu on my TV when hitting the [Setup] button on my remote. But, I could see my TV's Sony-based menus and display options.

Solution:
1. Put all ZONES in Standby mode using the remote. Hit these buttons on remote: [Receiver], then [Standby]. [Receiver], [ZONE2], then [Standby], [Receiver], [ZONE3], then [Standby]. You should NOT see any lights on the ONKYO except maybe one red led near the power button.
2. Pull the power plug out of the back of the ONKYO, and leave unplugged for 20-30 seconds. Turning off any power center it is connected to isn't enough. You MUST unplug the power from the back of the ONKYO for 20-30 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the ONKYO.
4. Using the remote, set ZONE1 to a video source known to be working. If you don't see video, try leaving the power cord off for a longer period.

I know it sounds too simple to work, but that's what brought the video back for me the few times the video stopped displaying. Hope it works for you.
