Motherboard for hp pavilion xt963 is there away to tell if its bad

It's very possible that your hard drive is dead. If you get a prompt when booting it such as F1 then the motherboard is working (so far), therefore it means the BIOS is ok and also that your CPU is ok if not nothing will show on your screen. If pressing F1 gives you boot options then select CD. If it won't boot from your CD force it by actually going into BIOS setup and selecting CD as primary boot drive then press F10 to save. (if BIOS setup options don't show when booting try pressing F10 or F8 and any other function keys after F1.
Make sure you have the installation disk. If the PC still doesn't boot or detect it you should try another CD/DVD drive, yours might be bad or buy or borrow a DVD/USB external drive and select it as boot drive in BIOS. Often I've seen that when booting if either the hard drive is bad or your operating system is corrupted it will prompt F1 because it cannot detect either. If OS is corrupted you will be unable to get to safe mode especially if the hard drive is bad, the recovery partition is on that hard drive and safe mode is a Windows program not BIOS.
After you've tried connecting a different CD drive to install your OS you should be able to at least see the Windows installation or whatever operating system you use asking to begin installing. If the installation fails then we move on to the hard drive; take it out and put a new one then try again.
If none of these help then there might be a circuit shorted out on the motherboard which can cause some things to work but not others although this is rare. Lastly I don't know what you meant by USB in your question because unless you have a bootable USB drive the system isn't going to do anything with it anyway.
By the way someone here mentioned RAM memory. BIOS should still show even if your memory is gone but some systems are quirky so this needs to be tested as well. I could go further if you had posted your system's specifications such as how many sticks of RAM you're using. Try dusting off your the inside of your computer with compressed air. Dust acumulation tends to cause weird behavior on a computer.

My hp series HSTNN-105C WON'T BOOT INTO THE OS

This indicates a hard drive problem or windows files has been corrupted. If you have a cd installation disc load your operational system, if that fails have the hardware tested for possible replacement.

Sir plz. help me, during installation of my winxp operating system, it stop copying of setup and it appears that driver.cab cannot copy,

Hi, "Cannot copy file" Error occurs when the setup fails to read the data/ file from the CD/DVD. This could be due a corrupt, scratched or dirty CD or weak/ faulty CD/DVD Drive. Try to clean the CD with a CD Cleaner or mild glass cleaner using a soft lint-free cloth and remove and smudges etc. Better if you try another CD. Else, clean the lens of the CD Drive or replace it temporarily with a working CD Drive for installation.Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!CreativeTECH

Hi,
I think that the operating has gone corrupt and needs to be reinstalled. First, make sure that your PC can read the hard disk in BIOS (at boot up, press F2 to enter BIOS and check "Drive Configuration). You should be able to find the hard drive (as well as CD/DVD ROM) here. If not check the hard disk cables etc. At boot up, you may also press F12 for Boot Menu and select the primary hard disk for booting up the PC.
Secondly, boot the PC from CD ROM, Delete the partitions and make fresh partitions for installation of the operating system. You may also add the hard disk of your PC to another PC (as slave) and delete all the partitions from the operating system and make fresh partitions. Place the hard back into your PC and proceed with installation.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I own eMachine Notebook e525 and it won't read any disks. I have tried multiple disks such as music cds, installation cds and video dvds. None of them read or open. There isn't even an icon for the...

> there is no icon for the CD-drive

Probably means that either:
* no electrical power is reaching the CD-ROM drive
* no "data" is being transferred to/from the drive
* the electronics inside the CD-ROM drive have "died"

Check the "power" and "data" connectors.

If necessary, replace the drive with a new CD/DVD reader/writer.

Since the disk works "elsewhere", it's probably your CD-drive that is faulty. Spend $40 to replace it with a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer.

The only other possibility is "bad" RAM on your computer's motherboard -- but you would be seeing other symptoms when using your computer, if this was a problem.

I can't find the driver of my cd-r king pc camera model VC2P

Try an online search for king PC camera drivers and see what comes up, or go to the manufacturer site and look for driver downloads, that should solve the disc reading issue, however if your drive can't read it, maybe the disc file has become corrupted or your optical drive is failing. Also go to my computer, drive C, programs folder and see if the camera software is in there, chances are you can reinstall it from its original folder.

Windows xp instalation stpos givibg a blue screen in aspire m5640 desktop

Windows Xp installtion give Blue Screen of Death when XP tries to installed devices driver during installation or when the cd is corruptted and cannot be read in graphical mode installation or when the hard drive is corrupted with Bad sector.

Get a new windows XP CD and configure your system BIOS to default setting ( load optimal settings) and configured for IDE drive configuration to compatible mode or disable mode if you are using SATA hard drive.

If problem still occured, get "Bad sector recovery pro" and try to repair the hard disk.If the bad sector are unrecoverable then change the hard drive.

Sometimes, faulty RAM also give blue screen too. Check your RAM too.
