To do a system restore in XP, you must have system restore enabled, and have restore points to roll back to. To perform the restore, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools> System Restore. Here you will be able to tell if there are any dates you can roll back to. Good luck!

Sounds like a serious virus/malware infection.
Restoring to an earlier date will not get rid of your problems.
You need to use good antivirus and malware cleaner programs.

try rolling back

Can not open emails


If you were able to open emails earlier then this will work.
If you are using Windows XP


Let windows boot and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'


A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next


Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '


Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.


The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.


Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.



If you are using Windows 7

1. Open the Start Menu.

A) Click on All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore.


2. Open the Control Panel (All Items View).

A) Click on the Recovery icon.
B) Click on the Open System Restore button.


A 'System Restore' window will appear. Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time'


A) Click on the Next button


Now you will find a window with Dates, Description and Type,

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.


The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.


Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start. Click on the Finish button and windows will take a reboot.

I m having problems with my yahoo mail screen reader , i have disabled the automatic updates option . but then also its not getting right. so plz tell me what should i do?

I suggest you run the SYSTEM RESTORE. Once you run this SYSTEM RESTORE is will surely back to normal the way it was before.

Go to START>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE and choose prior date you want to restore. If not successful. Use the other previous dates.

Toshiba L655 has been freezing up since downloading new updates from windows. How can I reset the computer to a previous date before the downloads? I have restarted, and removed the battery.


Hello tammy_goss, the best thing to do to "Undo the Update;" is to do a "System Restore."
Follow these instructions carefully, and you will have no problem at all. The first thing you want to do is click on the "Start Button,paul7of9_50.jpg" from the Desktop. Next, click on "All Programs," scroll to find "Accessories," next select the "System Tools."
You will see in the next window that open, System Restore. paul7of9_51.jpg"Now this is very important!"
Once you click on the [System Restore] "shortcut" it will start to look for the last known time of a change in your computer, example: New Updates.
The System restore can take as long as a 1/2 an hour to run, so be patient if you want it to work. "Do not try to do any type of work, don't even touch the keyboard for any reason, just let it run!"
Once the System Restore finds the correct "Date and Time"of the event; choose the Date closest to the time of the occurrence.paul7of9_53.jpg Now once again, there will be a message telling you not to do anything with the computer, and please don't.

The computer will then "Shutdown and Restart," Lo-gin if you have to; but!

Hello ! i want you to try something re install the operating program on this computer   .the operating program might be corrupted  . thats why its behaving that way  .also run an anti virus  to check the hard disk for program infections .ie before X P installation .

Windows cannot open this file


if you got the removal tool from anywhere other than symantec's website, you may have gotten an added problem. try using system restore to a previous date. you can then download the removal tool from symantec at

My aser keeps freezing and system repair dont solve the problem and the system repair says it could not repair ???


Have you added a program or hardware just before it started freezing. How long has this been going on?

Norton not loaded purchased from internet, did not get email with produt key, i'm 79 and mest it all up, please help me. mr james monksfild, email pelican12@talktalk.com. thank you.


ø First of All Shut Down your Computer.
ø Restart Computer and Keep Tapping F8.
ø Choose Safe mode with Networking and Press Enter. (Win XP or 2000).
ø Run Windows in Safe Mode Click Yes.
ø Restoring Windows to a previous point
ø Click Start, Programs or All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then System Restore. The Welcome to System Restore window opens.
ø Select restore my computer to an earlier time, and click Next. The Select a Restore Point window opens.
ø Select a bolded date and a restore point, and then click next
ø (Note: - You need to choose a Date before the installation of Norton)
ø Click OK if a pop-up window about closing programs appears. The Confirm Restore Point Selection window opens.
ø Click Next. The computer should shut down and turn back on automatically after the restoration completes. The Restoration Complete window appears.
ø Click OK. The computer has now been restored to a previous time when it worked correctly.
ø (Note: - If an error message appears saying that the computer cannot be restored to the point you selected, try a different restore point)
After the System Restore is complete, and the computer starts successfully, update the computer software as follows: - 1). Update the system virus definitions. 2).Get the latest critical system updates using Microsoft's Windows update.
Once all this is Done you Need to Download and Install Norton Again.

DVD drive not working with iTunes


Use system restore ,,, to restore your computer to a previous date before you downloaded itunes

click start ,, then in the search box type restore

Click Use system restore to restore system to a previous date (its the last one in a blue link)

follow on screen instructions, ensure the date you choose , is at least 1 day before you downloaded itunes.. BTW VISTA HAS MAJOR ISSUES
