Question about Soleus LX-120 Air Conditioner

Open Question

Leaking Water I have had the Soleus LX-120 Air Conditioner for 2 seasons. It is leaking from what I assume is a hose connector if you are using it as a dehumidifier.

SOURCE: Soleus LX-140 leaking problem

I also have the same problem with my PE3, EXACTLY. I have installed a catch pan under the unit after drying out my carpet and am using the unit, but I have to empty the pan every few days. I suspect there is a connection problem allowing water to drain directly instead of being discharged out the venting. SOLEUS seems quite difficult to reach, but I am persistent and will find the answer. Good to know the problem is out there yet Soleus is not fessing up.

You can find a substitute at any home center. In the Heating & AC Parts section of the store. Just be sure to get the same diameter and use the existing connectors off the old one.

I have an LX-100, and had the same problem, so I am guessing that the designs are similar. There should be a pump in the condensate pan at the bottom of the unit -- on mine, it was near the front, right next to the overflow float switch. There should be an outlet on top of the pump, which is where the hose needs to be attached.

It looks like the pump pushes condensate up into that plastic tray, which lets if flow over the heat exchanger, both cooling it and evaporating the water. With the hose detached, you're probably noticing degraded cooling performance and a lot more condensate in the holding tank than there should be. At least, that was the case for me. Good luck.

Cannot turn on.

Since you have power to the clock display- there is power to the unit. The "power" function button has failed because the momentary switch on the circuit board below the touch pad has failed. These little push switches have a short service life.
I suggest checking a source who sells the control circuit board for Soleus Air LX-140. Might be similiar component.

Same problem with the leaking from the base of the soleus unit

There is nothing wrong with the unit, you just are in a humid area, the water is from the air.

The water is being pulled from the air, that is part of how it cools, by condensing water.

Some units have hose fittings that can be hooked up to normal garden hoses and routed outside.

You could also install something like that yourself.

Hi
The Soleus Air condenser blower wheel is all plastic and I have seen many of them disintegrate from normal residential use. It's just a weak part.
Go to shop.soleusparts.com and buy a metal blower wheel replacement kit. Problem solved!

Soleus LX-140 leaking problem

We have a 1-year PE3-09R-03 that just started dripping water on the floor. The red "tank full" light never came on. I opened it up to investigate, and I believe the problems are caused by dust. The plastic float that trips the "tank full" switch appears to have gotten stuck due to the combination of water and dust in the tray. Once I loosened it up and cleaned the guide tube it rides in, it would trip the switch when the tank was full. The reason the tank was filling up was a little less obvious. There is a 2-piece plastic tray that sits underneath the evaporator and above the condenser. The tray is supposed to distribute the water that's dripping from the cold evaporator coils onto the warm condenser coils so it can evaporate and be blown out with the warm exhaust air (note that "evaporator" and "condenser" are referring to the refrigerant - the terms appear backwards when referring to what's happening to the water on the outside). The tray and its lid have a series of tiny holes that were - guess what - plugged by dust. The tray is relatively easy to remove, just two screws and a spring clamp on the overflow hose. The tray lid is heat-staked onto the tray, you should be able to clean it without separating the lid. I cleaned and reinstalled the tray and verified that water would flow properly. I then reassembled the unit and fired it up, and it's been running without a puddle for over a day in humid weather.
The unit has a filter for the recirculating room air, but there is no filter for the outside air loop. Adding a filter would obviously help keep the dust out, but it could also reduce the cooling efficiency of the unit.
DO NOT use one of these on a floor you care about without some sort of emergency catch tray underneath!

1st Problem: Doesn't evaporate the water. 2nd: Power will not stay on.

First thing to know is that most window or portable A/C units use the water from the evaporator to cool the condenser. If the condensor is not cooled down it will cause high head pressure on the Compressor causing it to overheat and shutdown. First thing is to make sure nothing is plugged which will keep the water from reaching the condensing fan, which slangs water on the condenser. If this is a portable unit it may only have a condenser and uses the water to cool it.
