Question about Belkin (F5D5231-4) Router

1 Answer

I have a wireless network and 2 laptops that need to be connected. One laptop is being used for work so it's also brought to the office and it's having a problem connecting to my home network. The other laptop is used at home and it's having no problem connecting to the network. Both laptops are using XP but they have different programs installed on each. The problem laptop has trend micro client/server security installed on it (it's an office laptop). When I go to device manager I notice that the network adapters have multiples, each one has a secondary item that has "- Trend Micro" and the end. Each of these "Trend Micro" items have a yellow exclamation point. How do I resolve this problem to get connected? Thanks

Try to update all with the exclamation marks on them by rigt clicking going to properties and driver update driver if that does not work if the trend micro disc is available re-install the software........

If you can install a wireless repeater it may provide a better signal.
OR
A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick.

My new laptop doesn't work

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

How can I connect my notebook to another pc without installing LAN??

A Local Area Connection, or LAN, is generally a small home or office network used to link all the devices in the area. With the advent of wireless technologies, LAN networks are no longer limited to the amount of cords you own. Laptops can connect to wireless LAN easily with their built in wireless adapters. Connecting two laptops together over wireless LAN is also easy, but requires a few special steps to give the laptops access to each other.

1Connect both laptops to the wireless network you wish to use. Once connected, click the "Start" button and navigate to the "Network" menu.

2.Click the "Network and Sharing Center" link. Press the "View Computers and Devices" button. A list of devices currently on the network is displayed.

3.Check the list for the names of both laptops. If both laptops are displayed in the list of devices connected to the network, the devices are connected wirelessly to a LAN network.

Only 1 computer connects wirelessly

Possibly you have to tell the laptops to connect manually - if you look at your wireless networks you should see your router listed and there should be a connect button - usually once a network is connected manually it "remembers" and connects automatically the next time. That can also usually be set in the properties for the connection to do auto connect. It all depends on the settings each PC has to allow connections.

You could try changing the security. Some of the older laptops have trouble with the new WPA2 security. Use WEP and you should be OK if this is the problem. Good luck TT

Does HP LJ 3055 printer scan over the wireless network?

Scan over wireless network is not supported with this printer. You can try set it up and get scanner to work with usb and then change port from usb to HP standard TCP/IP for the device, but I don't think it will work.

2) A Wireless signal to connect to.

Windows already has built in WiFi software.
