Question about Western Digital My Book Essential 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
firstly, cross check the USB cable of your Hard drive that enters into the computer, If its intact, then follow the steps below:
Click "Start" menu on your computer and under "Search" type in "Device Manager" and press Enter on your keyboard.
On the device manage, you will see a list of your computer's component, scroll down to USB, click the plus sign and you should see your Hard drive name amongst the list, right click on your hard drive and click, scroll to "Uninstall" and click on it. Then remove your hard drive and fix it back into the USB port. You might as fix it into the second USB port of your computer.
If the above does not solve the problem, look for another computer, and fix your hard drive into it. This will determine if actually the fault is from the Hard drive.
If the hard drive does the same thing on another computer, then it means, you might to to replace the hard drive's case.
