SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

How to disable drivelock password

The Compaq drivelock feature is designed to protect the data on a laptop's hard drive by assigning a password.

This password protects the drive in the event the laptop is lost or stolen, but can be removed when necessary.

Knowing how to remove or change the drivelock feature can make your Compaq more useful and more secure.

Power on your laptop and enter the drivelock password you established when you turned the drive protection feature on.

You will need this password to access the drive and turn off the drivelock feature.

Click the "Disabled" option in the drivelock menu.

This will turn off the drivelock feature on the Compaq laptop.

Do not enter anything in the password blocks.

Log on to the laptop, click the "Start" button and choose "Shut down." Choose "Restart" from the menu to power cycle your laptop and verify the drivelock setting is off.

If the drivelock setting is off you will not be prompted for a password when the laptop starts up.

hope this helps

I have a 4 GB transcend flash drive, i am very annoyed with it as it's write protection feature not allowing me to copy any files....how may i get rid of this write protection?...thank you..

Hi,
Many of these drives have a small switch to turn off the locking feature. It is usually very small but should be there. Slide the switch and it should allow you to use the drive properly.

i think you need to access the card protect feature on the memory card and try to flip it in the other direction. Maybe u might have mistakenly turned the card protection on.

Kenwood XD-A5 - "protection" shut off feature

This is a safety feature and can not be shut off. The system is detecting a problem in the last output stage of the amplifier and is shutting down to prevent further damage. I suspect a bad coupling capacitor in the pre-amp stage. This is a relatively simple repair for an experienced servicer. Figure on $10 or so for parts plus the local labor rate.

"Protect" feature increasingly activated.

You may have an output transistor gone bad and it is trying to run on one good transistor since they commonly are used in pairs (one positive and one negative). Time for a trip to the shop. Good luck.
