Question about Electrolux 24 in. EDW5500DSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Dirty Dishes Electrolux builtin dishwasher

It started with just the top rack not cleaning now it has spread to the bottom. Plates seem to come out okay, but I worry they are not hygienic. The arms appear to turn, I make an extra effort not to overload and to load properly, but the glasses are coming out dirtier than they went in.
We had a previous power problem, a repair man said we needed a new mother board, but all it was the kill switch needed to be held down longer to get it up and running. Then we had a draining problem again the repair man said we needed a new pump. It was only a cherry pit stuck in and once removed it was okay. I do not want to pay for a repair man to come and say I need a new part and when he pulls it apart tells me it something we could have dealt with ourselves.

How long ago did you clean the filters?...are they blocked or maybe damaged letting particles through.A cherry pit should not be able to get to the pump.

Wy is top rack not washing

top rack is for small plates & cups not pots & pans as they may obstruct the rotating of the sprayer & foul the water from getting to all the items

Dishwasher won,t clean dishes ontop rack

Make sure the top rack is pushed back all the way to connect with upper sprayer arm water port. Also make sure nothing is preventing either sprayer arm from rotating and there is nothing blocking the sprayer arm holes, like seeds or pieces of plastic debris. Also make sure your water heater temp is hot enough.

My dishwasher wont clean the dishes. The bottom rack gets kinda clean and the dishes on the top rack come out dirty and covered in film.

Check whether the top rack spray arm main hose sits firmly into the
machine. If there is a leak in this area water pressure may not develop.
Also check the water pump in the machine!

Do you have a garbage disposal? If I run mine while the dishwasher is running, dishes do NOT get clean!

your top spray arm is blocked and not rotating, remove it from top basket and thoroughly clean it paying particular attention to the holes right at the ends these are angled to drive the arms round if they block up the arms will not rotate.

Kitchen aid dishwasher doesn't clean dishes in the top rack

Sounds like you have 1 of 2 problems. Either your pump is clogged or you need a bigger drain loop.
