Assuming you are using Microsoft Windows the pictures could have been directly copied from a CD which will be Read-Only Files. You must have the picture files on rewritable media such as a memory stick or hard drive.
1) Right click on the file icon.
2) Select properties.
3) Under the general tab, you will see Read-Only and Hidden check boxes. 4) Uncheck the Read-Only and click OK to save the property changes.
Hint: you can select multiple files by using the Shift Click or Ctrl+ Click then Right Mouse Click to change properties.

Right-mouse click on a picture, and click Properties.
Near the bottom, remove the check-mark before 'read-only'.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My unit ht x20 suddenly Stop and shows "PROTECTION" can anybody help?

The protection indication is triggered by an Amplifier output failure. This is done to protect your speaker system. You will need professional help to fix it because it involves stripping the receiver , removing the faulty component, getting replacement and re soldering that component back.

SD card suddenly says write protected; wasn't before - how do I fix?

Your SD card is locked meaning is write protected. To unlock it you need to slide the small plastic toggle out of the 'lock' position. See image below

Write protect message appears on screen

Sounds as if the memory card may be corrupted. In order to remove the write protect, make sure you have downloaded and saved all of the images from the memory card to your computer and then having the card in the camera you will need to run the format option and this will permanently remove the write protect as well as all of the images from the card.
The card should be able to be used again after the write protect is removed.
