Question about Uniden Cordless Phone

1 Answer

We had a flood in our basement that got phone cords wet. They are now dry. The phone shorted out and has been unusable. Now we can dial out and reach others, I can use the internet, but we cannot receive calls to our home from the outside. Our cordless G.E. 6.0 phone flashes the letter CL and goes on and off. We get a dial tone, and can dial, but then it does not ring. We get one ring when a call is incoming and then it stops and shows no caller ID number. We have lost our instructions for the phone but figure if we could properly respond to the instructions CL, we might get the phone to work again. Help would be appreciated. The serial number is 27009EE-1-A

I got the instructions and they are so small I cannot read them. If you can read them and tell me what to do when the phone flashes the letters CL, I would appreciate knowing. We can dial out, and get another phone to ring, and talk, with a scratchy sound, but cannot receive incoming calls. I feel like if I can respond to the prompt CL that I can fix it, but am not able to read the instructions. I tried to hit the enlarge button but the words are still very tiny. I can get a magnifying glass and see if that helps, but just knowing what that prompt means would really help us fix the phone.

What would cause my shop vac series90pn to quit working while picking up water

The best thing for a basement that is vulnerable to flooding is a small sump with a permanently wired automatic submersible pump in it. Such pumps are relatively cheap and available in many qualities.
While such an installation will not keep a basement dry it will ensure the water level rises only enough for the majority to flow into the sump and be pumped away without you needing to do anything.

Wet vacs of my experience either have a float valve to prevent water ingress into the motor or a switch to cut off the power if the level rises too high.
Many such vacs have a powerful motor generating much heat and are only suitable for fairly short duty cycles. When used continuously the internal heat build up can distort plastic and melt thermal safety fuses.

It is impossible to guess what the trouble might be and that will only be revealed by checking. With vacs the first suspect is the power cord and the second is the switch...

The phone stop ringing & I can't find the problem

(I am assuming you are a business.) You don't have a power problem, you have a line trouble to or inside the phone itself. Phones operate with two wires: tip or green wire transmit the outgoing sound (voice); the ring or red wire transmit the incoming ringing signal. Your ring side is shorting out after the first ring. This short can exist in a local central office that transmits your dial tone to you; can exist in the underground/airial wires to your buiding; can exist in a wire closet (a riser wire closet from the basement wire closet to your floor); or in your the very base of your phone. You can have your service provider to verify the ring side of your service at the basement equiptment room. They may charge to verify any further; however, it is common to have this short appear from the central office. If the central office is transmitting a good ring side signal, pay a local communications company to verify your line from the basement entry point to your office(s). NOTE: FIRST TEST OUT A CORDED PHONE AND SEE IF IT RINGS OK...THAT WILL ISOLATE THE TROULE TO YOUR PHONE IF THE CORDED PHONE RINGS OK. GOOD LUCK.

Hello, my dryer got wet due to my basement flooding and it starts, but no heat.

It is highly risky to use any electric appliance even after the removal of flood water. Before using it you need to make sure that it is not wet from either inside or outside. Even a single drop of water can cause a short circuit at you home and can also lead to unfortunate event. In such case you need to search for a company like http://floodfixer.com/ that dries wet basements to ensure your safety. Professionals can bring your valuable possessions back to its original position and make them ready for reuse.

We had a storm and now the phone lines in the house to not give a dial tone. We did have minor flooding in the basement. I checked the outside box and there is a dial tone there. Also our doorbell is...

Check to see if you "minor" flooding watered a jack or you have a cable lying in the water or got wet. Examine the pins on each jack and cord. Or, as an alternative if you can unplug all but the main phone from the jacks (assuming there are modular jacks for each extension) then plug them in one at a time until the problem comes back, you may be able to pinpoint the bad cable run.

Bought house. Inherited shop/vac. A bit old, but

If you are going to use the wet vac to remove water, be sure to remove the bag inside the canister first. Also, some wet vacs have an internal float that has to be installed, but that may not be the case with yours.

Frigidaire front load washer

Did this cause the machine to stop work? Did something get burn? If its just that it got wet - just plug it out and do not start using it right away give it some time to drip dry and if you know how open it up and have a look to make sure no water is inside.
