The projector comes up then runs for awhile then shuts down. I checked the fan and that seems to be ok. I also checked the capacitors and those are good as well. I have summarized the the ballast component is bad. I need to find out where i can source the ballast for this unit, any recommendations? Benq MP720p projector

The ambient temperature in the room is to high.
Try lowering the room temperature. If that doesn't work
get a small fan and place it near the projector ro provide
extra cooling. The projector is running border line on
high temperature and just needs a little extra cooling.

Projector acts like its turning on and then shuts off after a few seconds, what causes this?

Every projector is designed to check the status of various sensors for lamp, fan, inside temperature etc. It seems that your projector lamp turns ON & then OFF. If the lamp turns ON then lamp is OK.
Remove dust from the dust filters if they are blocked. There are many fans to cool down the projector. Some are blower fans. Some are exhaust fans. You will have to open the projector & check which one of them is not functioning. Replace the one which is not functioning. It is also likely that there may be some failure of components.

I have a Toshiba TLP 260 Multimedia Projector --after a couple of minutes of being on the fan icon appears in upper left corner the projector will shut down indicator lights for the fan and on, goes red. ...

Hello,
If all the fans are running and you are sure, than it sounds like you have a bad main control board. Double check that all the fans are running. If so you will need to replace the main controller, this is the board that the fans are plugged into.
Thanks the Projector Guy

The projector works for awhile and then seems to overheat and then shut off.

clean out the projector with canned air and check the fans. it needs to cool down and dust keeps in the heat. if you still have the same issue, it may not be a temp issue, but a power supply issue.

Mistub XD450. Bulb relatively new. Projector

Does the projector work normally when sitting right-side up? If yes, something could be interfering when the unit is inverted. The symptom you describe initially sounds like a defective fan (some fans put out a computer pulse telling the main board it's running--they have 3 wires, red, black, yellow(signal)). If the board doesn't get signals from all required components, it's programmed to shut down to protect itself.

The projector comes on, shows an image, then shuts off

power supply problem. the capacitors are probably drying out. it takes a boost of power to strike the lamp, and if the power supply can't handle it, it shuts down. replace the power supply.

I get a temp warning on start up and then just shuts down only one fan seems to be working the one next to the lens dose the bottom fan only come on at certain temp. or are both fans supposed to run all...

first blow out any dust out of the projector with canned air. duat holds in heat. if the other fan is supposed to come on at first and doesn't, you would get a fan warning, not a temp warning.

ASK M3 shutdown

if the fans are running too slow, it'll shut down. it needs the fans to run at a certain speed to get enough cfms to ensure proper cooldown. if one is lagging, the lamp or power supply may not cool enough and cause damage. find out which one.

Benq pb6100, light bulb does not on, power ok

I fixed the exact same problem on my PB6200. Both back fans were not working, and the bulb would not turn on.

In my projector, the fan board had a bad capacitor. The fan board is the one where all 3 fans are connected, and which is facing upside down on top of the powerboard. The bad capacitor on my projector was coded C7302 on the schematics. It's a brown, 25v 470uf capacitor.

I recommend you to open your projector, unplug all connections to the fan board, turn it upside, and inspect the capacitors and other components. Bad capacitors have a bulge and/or a black stain or fluid coming out on the top. You can find pictures on the net.
