Question about LG Art Cool LA1000PR Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Installed an artcool in my appartment and it constanly leaves a little puddle of water on the floor, irregardless of the temp setting or the fan speed. Drain hose is connected to the plumbing drain. Water builds up around the two insulated hoses at the bottom of the indoor unit. someone told me the unit to strong for my appartment, another said not enough refrigerant coolant. It's only 3 months old, LG (life is not so good!)

First of all check the outdoor unit if it is in your reach  than simply touch both the valve & feel the temp if smaller valve is colder than the bigger one than surely the problem is with refrigerant quantity.

You may need expansion tank, as water heats ether may not be enough space for water to expand as heated. perhaps a different plumber or company.

The cowl drains could be clogged. Trace from the opening at the base of the windshield down to door hinges and look for debris such as leaves in the opening behind the hinges. You may have to use a coat hanger as a special tool to remove the debris.

sure... the grill under the wipers is the fresh air intake, i would recomend cleaning it best you can by hand, removing leaves, pine straw, etc, then put a empty pan on you floor board, so you don't ruin carpet, then take a mixture of 1 cup bleach to 1 galon of water ( hot works best) and pour in the grill area... look to see if you see water driping or flowing under car on passenger side. then check your pan inside the car if pan is wet, look for tube under the car passenger side, this is your drain, if it is dripping, get a metal coathanger or a long rod and stick in tube to unclog it. i would recomend this treatment or just rinseing with water once a month or so to keep it open and clean.

Radiator fans don't keeping running to keep the temp constant of the coolant

the fan only runs when the coolant temp reaches 225-230 degrees F, the temp will not remain constant, it will climb towards hot and then the fan will engage and bring it down, this is normal operation

Freezer temp risen to over 50 degrees. Refrigerator temp also risen to over 50 degrees. Water puddle on floor.

Check the fan in freezer is it running? Check the fan by the compressor is it running? Is the compressor actually running? Be careful can be extremely hot.

Freezer cooling. Refrigerator colloing on 10 setting only

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.
