Try to log in using the account name administrator and no password.
If you cannot change the account name press CTRL+ ALT+DELETE two times then type administrator for the user name. Do not type a password in the password box just click OK and hope that who set up the computer did not select a password. If this works proceed to the next paragraph, if it did not restart your computer pressing the F8 key during the boot screen until you can select the safe mode.
When you get into windows select start then run. Type control userpasswords2, and then click OK. Select your user name which you forgot the password and select Reset Password. Type in a new password and select OK. You now have a new password for that account.

How to recover my password on my laptop

Go on line (with another computer of course) to SpotMau.com and get their boot suite program. Copy to a DVD or CD disc.
It has a startup program that bypasses your hard drive boot section and allows you to enter your hard drive boot sector. When there you can black out the original sign-in protocol (password) and it is Removed. Restart the computer and don't use a password again unless you have kids that use the system. No need for passwords if it is your computer and no one else uses it.

Hp compaq power-on password

If you do not know the "power-on" password for the computer, you have to open the case and find the jumper labeled "Clear CMOS". When you find that jumper, move the jumper from its present position on say pins 2-3 to pins 1-2 and power-on the system. it may ask if you want to clear the power-on password or the CMOS in general, or it may appear to do nothing. Wait 10 seconds or so and power off the computer. Move the jumper back to its original position and power-on the computer. It may ask if you want to reset the CMOS settings by entering the BIOS and then select Default System Settings and save the settings and restart the system. This should allow you to boot the system after having erased the "Power-on Password".

I have an hp Compaq nc8230 laptop- I turned it off today and when it restarted I am getting a blue box asking for Power-up password key. I can find no information to get around this

The computer may have been established of several users. for example, one computer may allow to clone the prorgams so each person that requires computer accessiblity acheive programs features least accessing the others acounts or files. In which instnace, the original computer account holder also known as the compute administrator would have the only password capable of logging on at new power on. Attempt to provide the computer a password to ascertain the requested administrators instructures to retrieving program entry. The computer password can be reset only through the computer adminstrator account and then may available the second users computers files. Contact the computer adminsatrator to allow accessibilty else attempting to gain accessibity may lock both users out requring adminstrators reset usually complicated.

Trying to perform ''system recovery'',it keeps asking me for a password and I've never set one up.How do I get past this and rocover my computer.

on HP computer you just have to tap f10 at startup and it should not ask you for any kind of password to start recovery.
In case, if it is asking for a password, it means operating system installed on your computer is not from HP and in the past you have re-installed your windows with a different disc.

Logging in

Restart your computer. Upon seeing the boot screen press F8 sometimes more than once. You will get an option window of which you chose "Safe Mode" you will get to the log in screen. Select administrator. Select "Yes" to the window that pops up. Move all the files in your my documents folder under c:\Documents and settings\HP Owner\My Documents. If you don't your stuff will be deleted. Move it to a different folder like c:\Backup.
Then go into user profiles in control panel and select HP Owner then change password. Then reboot and you will be good.

Linsky password

If you're after the default userR/password to log in to the admin-intaserface on the router it's usually ussername=root and password=admin

If it's the wep-key it's asking for there are software that can fetch this from your computer, but it's probably just as quick and easy to change the wep-key in the router and set up your writeless computers with that key.

HP Probook 6560b BIOS doesn't recognize working WD SATA HDD. I have verified that it works in another computer and two other SATA HDD's work in my Probook. I have a WD Black 500GB SATA HDD (model #WD5000BPKX) that was the Kubuntu OS drive in my old HP Probook 6550b and works flawlessly when I test it in my husband's HP DV2000, but the BIOS on my current HP Probook 6560b does not recognize it. Running a HD test within the BIOS returns no drive installed, however booting from Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 Live USB sticks shows the HDD in the OS's file manager and partition manager, and another (Seagate) SATA HDD works flawlessly in this laptop. I have restored the BIOS to defaults and the version showing within the BIOS - F08 - is newer than the one shown for Linux on HP's driver site. Are you aware of any incompatibility with this particular model of HDD? I have VirtualBox but no Windows computer, if it is advised to update the BIOS to the current F67 revision shown for Windows computers on the HP support site. EDIT: Solved. I had no access to a Windows computer, but figured for whatever reason the BIOS in a computer that shipped with a 500GB SATA HDD wasn't recognizing a 500GB SATA HDD. So I installed the original Windows Vista Basic on the older 320GB HDD, downloaded the current HP BIOS update for that OS (on my husband's Ubuntu computer, since of course Windows didn't recognize all of my hardware), copied it to the 320GB HDD, and installed it without a hitch. The Probook 6560b is now running under a fresh install of Kubuntu 18.04 on the 500GB SATA HDD that wasn't recongnized prior to that update. Maybe not the simplest way to resolve it, but at least it's fixed. Hope this helps someone else with an older laptop not recognizing their SATA HDD. :)
