This is a common problem on all printers. Usually I see this happen after someone has pulled a difficult paper jam. Sometimes this can be just paper debris blocking a paper sensor. Try just cleaning the printer or blowing it out with a can of air. In most cases though, it means a broken or malfunctioning paper path sensor. If this is the case, it will need to be repaired.

Hello pbswick,

Try to reinstall the latest driver for your printer. Also open the printer and check for any debris or tiny piece of paper that may obstruct the rollers (I had another similar issue and it turned out that it was just a tiny bit of paper that was giving this error. See HERE)

Let me know how it goes.. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied. If not, please post back as to what you did, and/or any other questions you may have, and I will try to assist you as best I can. Please do not assign an ‘Inappropriate’ or ‘Thanks for trying’ rating if your issue is not resolved after the first response itself, as sometimes a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary before we can find a fix or an answer to your query.

If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! or Helpful rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

Cheers!

Check for a small piece of paper left somewhere within the paper path. Make sure you close the cover carefully and that it is secure and closed the same way before you opened it. Make sure it is not twisted or binding anywhere.

Paper jam on my Lexmark Z42

So I assume the computer is coming up with this error, Do you know whether there is paper in the printer or not that is causing this error or does the printer just think there is?

The outside panels should open up and you should see some rollers which may have paper stuck in them. Check for stuck paper or any other object and simply pull it out. Pulling paper out the way it went in won't wreck the printer.

If there isn't any object, you can try resetting the printer by unplugging it and the plugging it back in.

Let me know it neither of the above suggestions work or if you just need some more help or can provide more information on this.

thanks

My new hp deskjet 14235 got a paer jam renove paper that jam now my printer said error I have unplug the printer and waited then turn back on and error is still showing preventing me from printing can you...

Well to be honest most printers are not quality built and sometimes mechanical mechanisms can get damaged removing a paper jam. Give HP tech support a call if your printer is still under warranty to have it serviced. 800-474-6836.

Canon printer iR2016 error E192

HI, The problem could be casused if there was paper jam as the error is related to a non-detection of the Fixing Film/Upper Roller not spinning correctly. Please check the condtion of your Film also check the green handle in this area for paper jam removal if it is broken or removed, may also cause this error. Good luck Thanks for using fixya proton

Paper jam, so small, can't even see paper

first off, unless you know that the paper is there, it's a possibility your machine is just saying or acting as if there is a jam when actually there is something giving a false reading or a failed part rendering it unable to print. Otherwise, if you happen to know where there paper is jammed at, attempt forcing a heavier stock paper through. say the jam is between two rollers attempt pushing a cardstock or index card thickness of stock through the rollers to attempt pushing the paper backward which might either remove the jam and make it removeable elsewhere, or make it so the machine can try to feed the paper through again this time allowing you to reach it.
