Question about Samsung SyncMaster 17" LCD Monitor
I have a Samsung SyncMaster for about 2 yrs now and i had been playing games with it for the past years without any problem until recently. The game i was playing is Warcraft III and triggering the game means toggling it to full screen mode. After playing in the game for sometime, I attempted to go back to windows using alt tab. However, my monitor turns black and was unable to display as what it was able to in the past, but the CPU is still running fine. when i press alt tab again, this time it goes back into the game and it displays correctly. when it is in the black out mode, after sometime, the monitor displays the message 'Not optimum mode Recommeded mode: 1280 x 1024 60hz". but the problem is, my monitor resolution is exactly using this resolution its recommending....
Last night, i tried with a different game - Civilization IV and i played in full screen mode for about 2-3hrs. Suddenly it just black out totally the monitor power light went blinking (seems lk a power switch off).
Pls help! thanks
If you have a second monitor, you could use your computer until the monitor goes black... then plug in a replacement monitor. My guess is that one will display black too...
My gut feeling is that your VGA card is on the fritz... I'm not convinced it's your monitor. Do you have a replacement VGA card you can try? I'll bet that'll take care of the problem.
