It sounds more like a failing hard drive to me.

As soon as you start your computer, there should be a message at the bottom of the screeen that says "Press f10 for setup utility". Press f10 while you see this message to take you there. Navigate to the Diagnostics menu and select "hard drive self test". This should test your hard drive and if it gives you an error, then you know it needs to be replaced. Hopefully this helps. How to fix no bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key

the harddrive might be loose. check that the IDE/Ribbon Cable, or SATA wires are secure into the back of the hard disk , and where the other end of the cable meets the motherboard.

next , make sure the bootable device order is correct. that it is indeed trying to boot of the hard drive. that is done in the BIOS. Press DEL, or F12 or whatever option (sometimes F2) is displayed on the screen at the very start of the powering on state. (this is called the POST screen).

If you access the BIOS screen from the POST (the black DOS screen before windows starts) look in the listing for Logical Boot Order, and ensure that the Hard Disk Drive is listed as one of the first in the order.

try that and see what happens.

because beyond that, you might have a dead hard drive, or the master boot record on your disk is corrupt, and either of those are bad results.

How to completely reinstall windows xp on compaq presario sr1750nx desktop pc ?

For that you will need a bootable CD with Winxp.
Before, be shure you will have an a CD or DVD with drivers for Video and Audio card, network etc, the kits instalation files for programs you use and the serial number for license
Insert your disk with winxp instalation on cdrom or dvd unit and reboot.
When you  will begin to install windows, format the partition.

Compaq Presario 5WV270 Has No Oprating System

installing windows 95 on your pc would require you to have a bootable disk (either a floppy or cd)
insert your bootable disk and go to bios settings --> once you start your desktop pc, press Del key
then go to Boot menu and select your frist boot to floppy or cd (wherever your bootable disk is) then exit and save changes.
once your pc boots from the bootable disk goto C:
then make a directory (let's say Win95) --> C:\md win95
then press enter
then goto that directory which you've just created ---> C;\cd win95
then press enter
then copy your windows 95 disk on this directory
once you finished copy, run setup
be sure to remove your bootable disk the next time your pc restarts or change the boot sequence (again in Bios settings) to your harddrive as first boot
hope this helps
