Your 8500 Pro Fax is set as your default printer. To change this go to Printers and Faxes and right click on your 8500 printer and select "make this my default printer" then any printing you do wil go to your printer and not the fax

most people know how to do this however I use Serif Page Plus and PhotoPlus on Windows 7.It doesn't matter hoiw many times I have changed my default printer in my settings andfrom within the program itself, it insist on going to my HP 8500 Fax. Only way I can get it to print is to save it as a pdf or from a preview in my browser.

You can print a printer status report, print self test page from printer as standalone.there are details mentioned there about the page printed by your printer since you set it up.Page count started from the first time printer prints anything when you set it up and it collates all of it till present.

You also need to consider the ype of printer you have.

You can also print test page from PC to printer

this is example for windows xp.
windows xp is printers and faxes
windows vista is hardware and sound then printers
windows 7 is devices and printers

Click Start and then go to Printers and Faxes (XP), Printers(Vista), Devices and Printers(Win 7)
1. Right Click on your printer Icon 2. Click Open or See What's Printing 3. Click the option that says Printer on the upper left corner of the window that pops up. 4. Make sure the only thing that is checked under that menu is Set As Default Printer. 5. If Use Printer Offline or Pause Printing has a check mark. Uncheck it.

How to turn fax send report on

the Officejet Pro 8500 Series can still do a fax confirmation page, you just have to set it up. Press the Setup button (looks like wrench), then 2. Print Report, then 1. Fax Confirmation. From there you can select to print it out on Send, Recieve, or Both.

I need fax confirmation sheets printed when I fax from my HP Office Jet 8500. How do I get them to print?

on the printer itself --> press the setup button--> use the arrow keys on the printer and move to print report option --> press ok when you select print report--> Find out fax confirmation option and press ok --> turn it on.

If you do not find the Fax confirmation option under print report then find it under Tools option.

Press setup on printer --> press arrow key on printer and finid tools --> under that try to find the fax confirmation option.

once you switch on the fax confirmation option on the printer. every time you send a fax you will receive a fax confirmation also.
