IBook G3 900mhz 14" lcd power failure

I tried that already. My battery last half to one hr onlyso I always plug in the power adapter to use my iBook. Right now, when i boot my pc it only takes 5minutes or less then it will automatic shutdown again then could not restart at all. I have to wait for a day just to start booting it up again but still the same thing happen. I just read on the forum that it maybe the GPU or the monitor is the problem so what i did is connect to external monitor but still nothing's happen, the monitor or gpu is not the problem. Please advice me again. Thank you.

One more thing to try is a little know power management kuda switch on some macs. On some Ibooks if the keyboard lifts off look for a little red or green button. If you can find it remove the battery and all power let sit for 20 minutes then press that button for about 15 seconds. That puts the power management processor back to factory settings. If it doesn't have the kuda switch remove all power like before and hold down the start button for the same time. My guess is it isn't the main cpu or it wouldn't boot, it will shut down if it gets to hot though. Make sure your fan is working to eliminate it being that.

I push the power and nothing happens on my ibook g4 14-inch

If you are not using the AC adapter (you are using only the battery), then the battery may be dead - simply replace the battery. If you are plugged into the wall, and the light on the power cord, where it meets the computer, is green, the unit is receiving power. If the unit is receiving power and it will not boot at all, then either the motherboard or the hard drive is most likely problem. You can replace the board, but it may end up being more expensive on an older G4 than it is worth. Once you are able to determine if the unit is receiving power, the only thing you can really do from there is take it to a repair shop and have them perform a test on the power supply, hard drive and/or the motherboard to see which one of those is causing the problem. If the hard drive is fine, you will most likely be able to recover your files.

I own a ibook G4 1.42 ghz and the battery no longer seems to charge when plugged in. I recently purchased a nupower battery and it worked great. Should I try an external charger?

I'd try another AC adapter first. It's not unknown for them to go bad and no longer deliver the power necessary to charge the battery. It's really unlikely for the charge circuitry internal to the iBook to go bad.

Describe your cannot start ibook G3Problem it simply does not start, battery is ok and I have tried to take the battery away and back in its place, but nothing what can I do?

Make sure your iBook is plugged in to the wall. Hold down the power button for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, try holding down Command (the Apple key)-Option-P-R (hold all four keys down) and press the power button. Be sure to hold the power button for a few seconds whenever you turn it on.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Power Management Unit (PMU). This is kind of a "last resort," according to Apple. Don't do this all the time.
  1. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
  2. Wait 5 seconds.
  3. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
If you have a very old iBook, you may have to unplug your iBook, remove the battery, and
  1. Press and release the reset button located above the Audio/Video port on the left side of the iBook (Dual USB) computer by inserting the end of a paper clip into the small hole and gently pressing the switch once.
  2. Wait 5 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the AC power adapter.
  4. Put the battery back in the computer.
  5. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
(If it still doesn't start, do you hear the fans going?)

Good luck! Let us know if these steps solve your issue.

My iBook G4 will not turn on though it has a full battery & is connected to a plug socket also..

There are several models of iBook G4. The following sequence applies to the "14-inch Early 2004."
Remove all peripheral cables. Remove the battery. Reset the power manager by pressing the key combination Control-Option-Shift-
power. Then plug the iBook into AC power and attempt to start it with the power key.
If this procedure does not being it back, invasive diagnostics are required, in which case you should being it to an Apple-Certified tech for repair.

Ibook powers up but no video

Before disassembling the unit, the recommended way to diagnose a display failure is to use the appropriate adapter to connect the iBook to an external display or TV. If the external display shows an image, the internal display assembly is at fault; otherwise, it could be the graphics processor or logic board. This step may be more difficult now that you have your unit apart.
Two cable sets drive the display. One provides image signal, the other provides power to the backlight. It is common for them to fray where they run through the hinges. Either or both could be the cause of your problem. Another possibility is that your backlight has burned out, as it is nothing but a small fluorescent tube and they fail with age.

The date and time are held by the battery so I would guess the battery is going dead or is. Try keeping it plugged in and shut it down for a few then reboot. If the time and date stay good guess the battery is dead. Also make sure you get the power management firmware update from apple. hope it helps

On an Apple system, this is an indication that it thinks there is little or no battery left and goes to sleep to protect data loss. Your battery might be going bad (showing a full charge, but lasting for only a few minutes) or there may be a problem with your power supply.

Cant turn on

If you have the problem with no chime, no screen light up, and fans at max, it may be possible to fix it. It is often a design flaw in the soldering process.
Press firmly down on the left of the mouse pad when you press the power button (or try holding it in your left hand with your thumb by the touch mouse and fingers under the mac pressing firmly on the bottom) if it chimes. or even boots when this is done you can find a shop that does soldering(micro soldering) and have them fix the chip thats lose. Or for a quick fix try this site http://www.coreyarnold.org/ibook/ he shows the most common chip that comes lose.
All but 3 or 4 failed iBook's that had the fans start and nothing else, seem to have this problem(that I've seen) but Mac refuses to say it's a defect in all country's but Denmark (because a official study was done there that proved it was a manufacturers defect that each time you power on/off the iBook the solder gets a little looser.)
