I have a canon POWER SHOT A75..the lcd screen picks up only variations in light and even though it goes through the motions of taking a picture " click..flash" no picture is visible on the memory card apart from different shades of sways of light..........any ideas........I know it is old but I love its chunkikess.....many thanks Phil

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

This is known problem of bad ccd imager chip in Canon A75 camera and ccd imager will be replaced to get correct live view image.

CCD imager needs to be replace in camera to back in business.

if you have a book for your camera you need to read the menu,it will help you on the issue of shutter speed and light. bottom line is the faster the motion the faster the shutter speed with respect to lighting conditions. hope this help you soom jerry

The LCD screen is black and I can't tace picture. But I can still view my pics. The camera goes thru all the motions like it is taking a picture but it is just coming up black.

Canon A75 Power shot

Try formatting the card once and then check it again, the problem is due to the reason that your camera's Auto focus is not working swith it to Auto mode disable Macro and then take Photos when the Green box appears on the LCD.
